The Background

In 1994, Hinckley Triumph began to change the style of the popular Speed Triple. Triumph became the first manufacturer of production motorcycles to fully embrace the new streetfighter style. For those that don't know, the streetfighter style is essentially a modern sport bike or race replica without the plastic fairings. The popular style came about when bikers who had the unfortunate luck to crash their bikes needed to get the bike up and running again as quickly and as economically as possible, so they put them back on the road minus the fairing.
Triumph released the fourth generation Speed Triple in 2005. There were many changes to the bike from the previous model, the T509. The engine was still the tried and tested fuel-injected engine that had been used since 1997, but Triumph has increased the capacity to 1.050 cc. This was accomplished by lengthening the stroke.  An all new fuel injection and engine management system made by the Japanese company Keihin plus a few other engine modifications resulted in a claimed 129 bhp.
Some other improvements to the Speed Triple included inverted forks, which once again improved the handling, radial disc brake callipers and a redesigned electronic gauge cluster which includes a trip computer.

The History

18 October 2005 saw the registration of this beautiful Triumph Speed Triple. Being a 2005 model made it the new and improved 1,050 cc. As you can see from the photos this bike has been extensively and tastefully modified by the seller, who incidentally is the only person to own the bike and therefore knows literally every nut, bolt and modification carried out to the Triumph.
Throughout the Speed Triple’s life, you will be sure to agree that it’s certainly been pampered and cared for by a true enthusiast who has built it over the long 16 year ownership. In that time the seller has covered only 9,539 miles, most of which have been dry miles. The only time it's been out in the rain is when the owner has got caught in it on a day out. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the seller has taken the tough decision to part with the Triumph just purely down to lack of use.

The Paperwork

The V5 is present, and as already mentioned, shows zero previous keepers. Included with the sale is the cherished number plate T10 SOT. You could space it T 1050 T (Triumph 1050 Triple), obviously for show use only!. Both keys are present along with the owner's manual. Under the seat the bike has the original tool kit.
Although the bike has been modified, the seller hasn’t kept any of the receipts for parts that he bought, but I'm sure when it comes to it, he would have absolutely no trouble in reciting what parts are what and how much they cost. Included with the sale is a trickle charger.

The Exterior

Finished with the base coat of black and topped with gold metal flake paint, the Triumph pops in all lights! The paintwork was carried out by motorcycle paint specialists Motopaint in Cradley Heath, West midlands who have done a fantastic job.
Starting at the front, the most noticeable alteration is the much smaller bullet style headlights over the larger factory versions. Above that is the shorter fly screen which has been colour coded to match the rest of the bike. A smaller and more aerodynamic Motoforza belly pan has been fitted and the side panels have been changed for Mungaru items along with the seat cowl. All of which certainly fit in well with the streetfighter style. The seat trimming has been carried out by motorcycle seat upholsterers P + P Seating in Birmingham.
LED lights have been fitted to the rear of the bike. The rear indicators are shorter and have been relocated to give a smoother, cleaner look to the back of the bike. Most of the bolts on the engine casing and body panels have been replaced with gold anodised ones from Tasty Nuts.
The brake and clutch levers have been replaced with Pazzo Racing gold anodised versions. Continuing the gold theme are matching gold Renthal bar and bar ends, and also the Rizoma front and rear brake reservoirs.
Any brackets on the Triumph have either been polished, chromed or painted. R&G Crash Mushrooms have been fitted for protection in the unfortunate event that you should drop or come off the Triple. The wheels are by Pro-Moto and have good tyres to the front and rear. There is a rear carbon fibre hugger and also included with the sale is a spare front carbon fibre mudguard. All of the modifications carried out to this 2005 Speed Triple have shaved approximately 30kg from the standard bike weight.
As you look around the bike you will notice the tank attached to the side. Yes, it's fitted with Nitrous Oxide! More on that next.

The Mechanics

This is not for the faint hearted with the option to have at the flick of a switch an extra 33 bhp put straight to the rear wheel certainly does liven up what is an already quick bike. Fitted with a Wizards of NOS Nitrous Oxide system that includes a 2lb polished bottle with gold anodised valve and pressure gauge. The electronics side of the system is mounted on the Renthal bars, and has various settings to control the time and how much Nitrous you get. Once the system is armed via a main switch the Nitrous is activated via the horn button, time to hold on!
To help keep the Speed Triple running 100% as it should and also producing maximum performance the bike is fitted with a Dynojet Power commander which is built to give your bike optimized drivability and fuel efficiency together with more power. Helping the gases escape nice and quickly is the bespoke stainless steel exhaust made by Zorstec, and yes it sounds as good as it looks.
With all this extra power you need something to stop you just as quickly. This has been achieved by fitting Galfer Wave discs to the front and rear. The suspension hasn't been left untouched either. Ohlins suspension has been fitted to improve handling, along with light weight top and bottom yolks. Transferring all this power to the rear wheel is a gold chain by D + B and a rear sprocket by Renthal. The seller reports that the bike rides just as it should.
