The Appeal
Introduced in 1996, the Boxster is a mid-engined 2-seater roadster developed by Porsche alongside the Cayman. The name “Boxster” is of course a play on words, combining elements of the car’s signature boxer engine, and roadster body style. Known for its characterful driving experience, the Boxster benefits from fantastic weight distribution and a low centre of gravity, as a result of its mid-engine configuration.
This example belongs to the second generation of Boxster, otherwise known as the 987. The 987 Boxster boasts many styling improvements over the first generation, including larger arches, new headlights, and interior tweaks. In addition to showing off the welcome improvements, this example is also rather low mileage, boasts just 2 former keepers, and is in excellent condition for its age.
If you’re looking for a classy roadster that never fails to impress on the roads, this 987 Porsche Boxster should be your first choice.

The History and Paperwork
- Just 2 former keepers
- Well cared for example
- MOT until June 2023
- Recently serviced
This Porsche Boxster has undoubtedly been thoroughly enjoyed and well cared for over the years, showing a modest 85K on the clock today. It’s also seemingly one of the few to show such a low owner count, with just 2 former keepers noted on the V5.
Although not a great deal of paperwork is included with the vehicle, the car’s current mechanical health suggests regular servicing and maintenance in the past. According to an invoice from 2021, the vehicle received a new front spring, brake lines, and new front brake pads & discs. The only other receipt shows a recent service, at 85,688 miles.

Also included alongside the two aforementioned items, are a few previous MOT certificates, along with the V5C document, ready to sign over to the lucky new keeper.
The Interior
- Leather steering wheel
- Original interior
- Great condition
The interior of this lovely Boxster presents itself in great condition for its age and mileage, with only the expected signs of wear & tear as is typically found with similar examples.
Perhaps most notable is the wear to the driver’s headrest, slight damage to the side bolster, and the expected wear marks. It should be noted that the driver’s seat tilt lever is currently broken, although there’s not a great need to use the tilt option in this two-seater. The passenger seat, on the other hand, has clearly seen far less use and shows significantly fewer signs of wear.
Carpeting throughout the interior is in excellent condition, particularly underneath and behind the seats. The door cards follow closely behind, albeit showing a few marks on the leather and plastic trim inserts. As you would expect, the gearknob does show signs of use, but remains as functional as ever. The steering wheel, on the other hand, appears to have been far better preserved and shows few signs of age or use.
Both the frunk and boot offer a surprising amount of space, and show off clean carpeting & trim pieces, along with their relevant kit, such as the warning triangle in the frunk.
The Exterior
- Excellent condition
- 17” alloys
- Electric folding soft top
- 987 styling improvements
The Porsche Boxster is certainly a well-styled roadster, with this 987 generation showing off key styling improvements over its predecessors, such as the headlights, front bumper, and larger intake vents. In addition to having a rather remarkably low number of former keepers, this Boxster also appears to have been very well preserved over the years, and now looks fantastic for its age.
The silver paintwork still offers plenty of shine and flake, seemingly showing only a few defects. As the images show, there is notable damage to both sides of the sills, which may have been the result of incorrect jacking in the past. That being said, unless you’re viewing the car perfectly side on or from a low angle, these are hardly noticeable. Otherwise, there’s just the pictured scuff to the rear bumper, and the usual minor marks to expect.

Complementing the paintwork are the car’s factory set of 17” alloys, which come wrapped in a mixed set of tyres, still with plenty of tread to enjoy. The wheels are in fair condition for their age, with only the typical minor marks and flaking to be observed. A quick refurbishment will have these wheels looking like new in no time at all.
As a rather key feature of the Boxster, buyers will be pleased to know that the roof performs without fault, and offers a watertight fit, with a clear rear window. Details around the vehicle also present themselves well, with no significant defects to note. The headlights are perhaps the vehicle’s only letdown in this area but can soon be rectified with off-the-shelf restoration kits for very little cost or effort.
Overall, this Porsche Boxster is in excellent condition for its age and has undoubtedly been well cared for by previous owners. In fact, it could be suggested that this example shows far fewer signs of age than a great deal on the market.
The Mechanics
- 2.7L flat-six
- 5-speed manual transmission
- Performs brilliantly
- MOT until June 2023
- Recently serviced
- New front brakes in 2021
- New brake lines in 2021
The Porsche Boxster seemingly went rather underpraised by enthusiasts for some time, but is now widely acknowledged as one of the finest competitors in its class. The Boxster offers an excellent balance of mid-engined handling characteristics, Porsche engineering, and all the charm of a fruity boxer engine.
This particular Boxster is a fine example, now presenting itself with excellent mechanical health, and no faults to note. The flat-six fires up right away, offers a tasty growl on idle, and pairs well with the notchy 5-speed to provide hours of fun on a twisty B road.
Although not much paperwork is present, it is evident that the vehicle has likely been very well maintained in the past. Included paperwork details front brakes, a front spring, and brake lines in 2021, along with a recent service, earlier this year.
With no known mechanical or electrical faults to note, this Boxster is now more than ready to be enjoyed by the next lucky owner.
Summary

This particular example does Porsche proud, presenting itself in great condition both inside and out. The vehicle is also in excellent mechanical health, boasts a long MOT until next June, and offers fault-free motoring enjoyment for the next lucky owner.
