The Background
The CLK A209 Convertible and W209 Coupe were launched in 2002, using the W203 C Class as a base it was a significant upgrade on the previous generation, getting rack and pinion steering, three link front suspension and aluminium multi link rear suspension making it a sharper drive than before.
The 20 second convertible hood is triple layered for warmth and noise insulation, and the soft top cars were built by Karmann in Osnabrück, moving to Bremen in 2004.

The History
The CLK was bought new by a lady in North London in September 2005 who owned it until March 2021. After driving less than 1500 miles a year on the car, and wanting an easy sale, she commissioned a local garage to arrange this. For some unknown reason, the garage registered themselves as owners, thus creating an additional "owner".
In March 2021, it was bought by the current owner who had ordered a new car and with the supply shortages wanted a nice car to drive while waiting, and now that has been delivered its no longer required, and living in London with very limited parking is forced to part with it.

The Paperwork
In the glovebox is the owners book pack, filled with all the instruction manuals and the service book which has a good number of stamps in the back, including the fresh pass certificate and a receipt for service when the current owner acquired the car in March.
Also there's a folder with the original copies of each and every MOT from the first one on 24th. October 2008 to the most recent one on the 30th. November 2021,

The Interior
Inside the car the excellent condition reflects the low mileage. The leather seats are like new, the carpets are unmarked and the wood inserts in the dash and doors are glossy and smooth with no marks and the ruched leather door cards are superb. There are just a couple of foot marks on the lower front of the drivers door and between the centre air vents is a small scratched area where perhaps something was stuck to the dash.
The power hood raises and lowers just as it should with a push of the button and the four electric windows work correctly.
The CLK also has power fold mirrors, auto dipping lights, dual zone climate and cruise control among other features.

The Exterior
The silver paint is in fantastic condition, looking like the miles rather than the years and there are no dents or dings in the panels. The fault list is short, there are a few small stone chips to the front bumper as to be expected and a chip on the passenger door which has been touched in and hard to see, presumably from a careless driver opening their door in a car park.
The chrome effect inserts in the front bumper are starting to crack and the passenger mirror indicator lens has a crack.
The alloy wheels are immaculate, and have two new Pirelli tyres on the rear, fitted on December 1st, while the fronts, also premium brands, were new in 2018.
The black hood is in good shape, tight over the frame with no splits or tears and a glass rear window so no fading or cracking.

The Mechanics
Having covered such a low mileage, but being in constant gentle use, the car should feel mechanically fresh and looking under the bonnet there are no signs of leaks of any kind.
The Mercedes was MOT’d in November and after an inspection on the ramp the owner reports no signs of corrosion under the car

The appeal
These are timelessly elegant cars, good looking and with the luxury touches you would expect in a Mercedes. What makes this example so special is the incredible low mileage, certainly its one of the lowest to come to market at this age, its almost like buying a three year old car
