THE APPEAL
The Porsche Cayenne is tipped by many to be the next big thing – a game-changing Porsche that redefined the brand and made it VW Group’s most profitable business unit as the market for premium SUVs exploded in the 2000s. It’s hard to believe it’s now over 20 years since it was launched.
It was the first Porsche SUV, the first with a V8 engine since the 928 and the first with off-road capability since the company built tractors in the 1950s. Intially offered only with those V8 engines, normally aspirated and turbocharged, to ensure that it lived up to Porsche’s performance promise.
Good early examples are becoming few and far between, but this four-owner car is a low mileage example in seemingly good order – a great way into owning the seminal Porsche SUV and a guaranteed future classic.
