The Appeal
The XK8 replaced the XJS in 1996, combining classic Jaguar engineering with a revised independent rear suspension set up from the big saloons and the legendary AJ V8, clothed in the sleek and pretty coachwork from the pen of Director of Styling Geoff Lawson, who had just finished the XJ220, and the family resemblance is clear.
This XK8 is in an appealing colour combination of beige paint with a tan fabric hood, which looks exceedingly pleasant on the many curves of the Jaguar. The car appears to have been well looked after. A full book of service stamps and near flawless condition suggest careful owners move the years and its 4.2 litre V8 is smooth and powerful.
The History and Paperwork
• Original service book
• Stamped up to date
• MOT to October with no advisories
Sold new by Holland Brothers of Lincoln in September 2002, to remained in that area returning for annual service until 2005, when the stamps show the car moved to Leeds where independent Jaguar specialist Tasker and Lacey took over maintaining the XK8 for the next 4 years.
Its next home was in Cumbria where it continued to receive correct specialist care from more independent Jaguar garages, PV Dobson & Sons followed by North Wales Jag Centre. By the time it had reached its 10th birthday it had only reached the low 80,000s on the odometer.
North Wales Jag Centre continued to maintain the car until 2016 and 98,000 miles and since then it has had two more stamped services, the last in 2019 when it had reached just 103,000 miles and it has only covered 4000 miles since.

The current owner has had a wide variety of classic and sports cars over the years and moved from a post war MG T Series to this and has found it to be slightly faster and more powerful than he was looking for so is planning to turn back the clock to a 1960s convertible.
The Interior
• Original interior
• Cream leather trim
• Superb wood dash
• Wood and leather steering wheel
• Excellent carpet with fitted mats
Look inside the car and you are greeted by classic cream leather and fine wood. The hide covers the seats, centre console and door cards, which have a tan top roll, the colour of which matches the steering wheel leather. The condition is very good. The door cards are excellent, just a few shoe marks low down and overall the seats are very good too. The drivers seat does have some wear on the side bolster and to the seat base, but this just to the colour layer not the leather so could be recoloured quite easily.
The steering wheel is extremely good, the leather unmarked and the wood sections beautiful. This matches the timber of the dashboard, which has no marks, scratches or cracks. The lacquer is flawless with a deep gloss over the lovely wood grain pattern.
The carpets are in superb condition with very few marks and they are protected under fitted floor mats.
There is plenty of luxury equipment in the Jag. Air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a power hood all feature and the factory radio cassette also has a multi disk CD changer in the boot.

The Exterior
• Excellent beige paint
• Unblemished bodywork
• Superb fabric hood
• Recent tyres
The classic lines of the Jaguar are not spoilt by and damage to the bodywork which is smooth and ding free with even shut lines. There is no sign of corrosion around the car and the wheel arches look solid.
The The gold paint has a beautiful glossy finish across the entire car with almost not chips or marks in the finish. There is even a gold tint to the 18” alloy wheels which are in near perfect condition with no curb scrapes marring them, and recent looking Nexen tyres all around with very deep tread.

The power hood is in excellent shape. It raises and lowers just as it should and the tan fabric cover and its interior headlining are superb, it even has a heated glass rear window and it thickly lined for a quiet and warm ride when it is raised. The light lenses and badges impressively are bright and crisp.
The Mechanics
• 4.2 litre V8
• Starts, idles and revs well
• Automatic gearbox
• Selects forward and reverse gears easily
• Full service history
Look into the engine bay and the AJ V8 fills every spare centimetre of space. Its all very clean under the bonnet, despite not having been cleaned since the car was bought in October. We didn't spot any fluid leaks or signs of accident damage or repair and the motor starts easily and runs smoothly.
The automatic gearbox selects drive and reverse as it should and the owner tells us it drives very well with effortless power, 400bhp will whisk the car to 60mph in 5.2 seconds It has a full service history up to just 4000 miles ago, it has seen very little use since the pandemic.
Summary
This is a very clean XK8 with very good mileage for the year and in an unusual but appealing colour combination and the legendary AJ V8 is something any car lover should hope to own one day.
It has an enviable service history, recent tyres and an advisory free MOT that runs until October making it perfect to put the roof down and enjoy the summer with.
