THE APPEAL
This well-built S820 motorhome was Hymers top of the range flagship model in 2002 and built on a very sturdy and desirable Mercedes chassis.
It’s a big motorhome, measuring 8.3 meters in length and having a GVW of 5990 kg. The clever use of space inside makes it very roomy and achieves a huge amount of storage space.
With only 2 former keepers from new, it comes with a host of extras to make life in the camper easy and enjoyable at any time of year.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Large file with complete documented history
- Full-service stamps from Mercedes main dealers
- V5 present
- 2 sets of keys
- New MOT
This left-hand drive, 2002 Hymer S820 was built in Germany where it spent three years before being imported into the UK in 2005. The previous owner put the motorhome on a Northern Irish registration plate which wouldn’t need changing for the UK mainland. It could be changed to European plates if needed.
There is a full Mercedes service book filled in up to the last service. It has done very few miles since then.
As well as the service book there is a large file with all the invoices for parts and charges during its lifetime.
All the original booklets for appliances in the motorhome are also in the pack.
THE INTERIOR
- Loads of storage space
- Quality fixtures and fittings
- 2 Berth (double bed to the rear)
- L Shaped Lounge area
- Satellite TV’s
- Fridge, Freezer, Oven, Hob, Grill
- Cassette toilet, Shower, Mains electric
- Battery Charger, Second Battery, Heating, Blinds

- Cream leather upholstery with cloth settee
- Electric skylight
The rear transverse bed is always ready to use. A washroom is ahead with cassette toilet, hand basin and shower. The kitchen area comprises gas/electric oven/grill, hob, 3-way fridge/freezer, sink/drainer and a host of storage space.
A forward lounge area consists of an L-shaped settee. The lounge is complemented by the swivelling cab seats and a table to the right side.
Onboard the S820, we see high quality German engineering and almost every conceivable extra fitted and ready for use. A large storage space under the bed to the rear provides ample storage for larger items that you wish to take away with you, such as bikes, BBQ’s, chairs, and equipment for beach pursuits.
Upon entry through the side door you are welcomed by an open plan space where the kitchen flows through to the generous seating area over to the left. You could comfortably seat yourself and a few guests around the large dining table. The adjoining kitchen offers everything you’ll need for catering. There is a full-size fridge with separate freezer.
There are a few signs of wear on a couple of kitchen cupboards, but the other numerous storage areas around the top areas are all in good condition. The cream leather upholstery and some other places such as the windows and surfaces will need a valet as the camper has been well used in the past. With a bit of TLC this could be a real home away from home where you can enjoy home comforts.
THE EXTERIOR
- Satellite dish for 2 TV’s
- Reversing camera
- Air conditioning
- Large water storage
- Full length awning
- Solar Panels
- Tow bar and electrics
This is a large motorhome measuring Height 3.2 m Length 8.22 m and Width 2.38 m, but things are made easier with the extras such as electric mirrors and a reversing camera.
The bodywork is in very good condition and is very straight. The paintwork needs a very good clean and polish as it has dulled over time. There are a good number of external storage boxes that can be opened around the sides including two for fuel and leisure batteries. The large rear under the bed and accessed via the outside holds the huge water tanks.
There is a rear ladder to allow access to the factory fitted roof rack.
THE MECHANICALS
- Rear wheel drive
- New twin tyres on single rear axle
- Power steering
- Alarm
- Many electrical options for internal items
The underside of the motorhome is very clean. All key areas of the chassis are galvanized and there appears to be very little weathering on any of the mechanicals. The engine and rear differential are both very dry that we can see and the seller assures us the brakes, gearbox and suspension have been well serviced and in excellent condition. The seller also informs us that all the electricals work as they should with no issues.
SUMMARY
The current owners love this Hymer S820 motorhome and have used it for a while but are downsizing to a smaller vehicle. This has opened the opportunity you to join the increasingly popular recreational pastime of life on the open road in a motorhome.
And with the build quality and huge list of creature comforts we can think of no better vehicle.
All you will need is a C1 licence for driving on the road because of the weight and the seller is happy to arrange delivery.
