The Background
This is a stunning example of a BMW Z3 Sport 2.2 with only 49k miles on the clock. Presented in Titan Silver over a two-tone blue and black leather interior making for a very classy specification. This is a lovely example of a Z3 which has had routine services and has always been maintained to a high standard. This Z3 would be a great proposition for any BMW enthusiast or the collector, ready to be tucked away and used on sunny days.
The Z3 is now gaining classic status and interest is gaining rapidly. This is due to the classic roadster shape, penned by the great Joji Nagashima automotive designer, also responsible for the successful E39 BMW and E90 3 series.
The History
This Z3 was first registered and bought in 2002 where it was then owned for 3 years, it was then sold to its next lady owner. Sher had the car for 6 years then part exchanged it for a newer model at Cheltenham BMW in 2011 before being sold to its current owner (Therefore 2 previous keepers on the logbook).
He bought the car from the Cheltenham BMW main dealer as an approved used car and has covered very little mileage since. The car has however done a few trips to Spain for holidays.

The Paperwork
This Z3 retains a good service history with regular servicing and routine maintenance to keep it in tip top shape. Most of the servicing was carried out by the current owner as he was an engineer by trade. The owner has made records of when he serviced the car and what he had changed on each service. The cars last service was at 48k miles, only around 1.5k miles ago and therefore shows lots of green service lights on the dash. The car looks to have had 7 services from a mix of Main dealer and private owner.
The car has just been fitted with a new battery with 12 months warranty, 4x new tyres, 12 months MOT with no advisories thanks to Meticulous maintenance from the owner (Anything that would need doing was always attended to), recent brake discs and pads all round, recent service, recent roof replacement and recent wheel refurbishment with no blemishes making for a car that can be jumped into and enjoyed in the fast-approaching summer hassle free!
The car comes with two operational keys, book packs, some invoices and parts invoices and the approved used pack.
The Interior
The car is completely original inside, as you can see from the BMW Business CD player that is fully operational.
The interior boasts electric heated M sport seats, traction control functions, electric roof, and machined aluminium centre console trim.
This Z3 also retains its full toolkit in the boot and the boot remains dry and in good condition.
Overall, the interior is in fabulous condition with only minimal wear to the driver’s side bolster. There are no unsightly rips and the original BMW mats are in great condition too with no staining or water marks.
The Exterior
This Z3 boasts a classy Titan Silver paint code which is in great condition all over thanks to being dry stored for the majority of its life. The silver paint really enhances the curvy body of the Z3 in the sunlight. The side vents have also been painted in this colour from factory. The wheels are the attractive BMW Light Alloy style 78s and were bespoke to the sport Z3 models. These have been recently refurbished/powder coated in dark metallic grey within the last few months and then fitted with 4x new tyres all round.
This example has also had a new roof supplied by Raymond Pugh ltd. A highly regarded soft top repair shop. The replacement was carried out as the rear plastic window had gone cloudy so the roof was replaced to freshen the whole look of the car. The roof is in navy blue to match the interior and is in like new condition.
There is the odd mark round the body work as to be expected on a 20-year-old car but still certainly looks great and all paint is original apart from a tiny spot on the front bumper towards the bottom splitter which has been touched in. There is also a small amount of corrosion appearing on the wing mirror. A very common Z3 issue that can be easily rectified at any good body shop. Please see the photo of both small cosmetic defects.
The Mechanics
These Sport Z3s are seriously good fun and have just enough poke to really feel the great chassis balance. A chassis that was derived from both E36 and E30 BMWs. The engine is smooth and torquey low down meaning the power can be enjoyed without having to rev the car out to redline. The 6-cylinder M54 engine really is a bullet proof gem and has a lovely, meaty exhaust note; all contributing to an enjoyable classic roadster experience
The Appeal
Owning a Z3 also gives you bragging rights down the pub for being featured in The James Bond movie ‘Golden Eye’.
The sport models gained many desirable options as standard to make for a more driver focused package. The sports models came with uprated M-sports suspension, Limited Slip Differential, M-sports steering wheel, M-sports seats, M sports gear knob, and a multi-spoke staggered light weight alloy wheel that was bespoke to the 2.2 sports model. If you are looking to buy a well sorted Z3 in great condition, in a desirable trim, make sure its this one!
