HIGHLIGHTS
- Twin Turbo Bentley with classic V8
- Immaculate throughout
- Genuine verified low mileage
- Comprehensive service history
THE APPEAL
The Arnage was the last of the real, true V8-powered Bentleys. Vast, extremely comfortable and the absolute epitome of luxury, it ran from 1998 until 2009. It was initially sold with a BMW engine, but following VW’s acquisition of Bentley in 2000, it reverted back to the traditional (and preferable) 6.75-litre V8, which in the Black Label trim offered for sale here was equipped with twin turbochargers giving it 450bhp and a 170mph top speed. 0-60mph was despatched in just 5.5 seconds.
This one is a fabulous example with a comprehensive history and just under 68,000 verified miles from new.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Verified genuine mileage
- Service book stamped annual to 49,275 miles
- Service invoices thereafter from renowned specialist
- Original handbooks and manual
- Two sets of keys
- UK V5C
- Long MOT
This is a car with the type of pedigree you want to see from a Bentley. The last owner has had it for eight years and had it serviced by Colbrook Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists in Cambridgeshire – one of the UK’s best-known and highest regarded of the breed. Prior to that, it was maintained in the Bentley main dealer network, having been supplied new by Hadley Wood Garage, the Bentley main dealer in Barnet, Herts.
The most recent service invoice runs to over £3,000, carried out last year. It has loads of bills and receipts and all original books, plus a clear HPI certificate and an MOT valid until February 2023, passed 700 miles ago with no advisories.
THE INTERIOR
- Box pleat beige leather
- Factory sat nav
- Wool over mats
- Flawlessly presented
- Original tool kit beneath boot floor
The Arnage is a truly opulent car both front and rear, and is superbly presented with no evident flaws. It has Bentley’s pop-up optional sat nav, remotely controlled, and optional lamb’s wool over-mats for added luxury. The veneers are all perfect, as are the carpets, roof lining and door cards. Truly lovely.
THE EXTERIOR
- Original Black Sapphire paint
- Superb condition
- 19-inch alloys with Pirelli P-Zero rubber
- Dealer plates
The Bentley has an imposing presence in its original Black Sapphire paint, which is a blend of black and blue and retains a deep and wonderful shine. It’s very well presented with no major flaws or damage – the only minor issues we could find being tow tiny dents in the left-hand side of the type left by supermarket shopping trolleys. They’re hard to see and the overall impression is a very grand and extremely striking one.
THE MECHANICS
- 6.75-litre twin turbo V8
- Starts and runs perfectly
- Super-smooth auto transmission
- Impeccably maintained
Being a 2002 car, this one has the Rolls-Royce 6.75-litre V8 under the bonnet – one of the last Bentleys to do so. It’s an absolute peach of an engine and runs sweetly, with no evident issues. The vendor has driven it over 500 miles in recent weeks and reports that it drives faultlessly, with great performance, brakes, steering and handling – as you’d expect from a car that has been this well service through its life.
SUMMARY
Collectors are falling over themselves for the best of the Arnages – considered by many to be the last ‘true’ Bentley. This one is absolutely terrific – it presents beautifully and has an excellent pedigree, as well as a warranted low mileage. An absolutely gorgeous car in every respect.
