2002 Alfa Romeo Spider 916

HIGHLIGHTS

 • Gorgeous 3.0 V6 Spider
 • Grey leather upholstery
 • Specialist maintenance history
 • New MOT
 • Enthusiast owned

THE APPEAL

The Alfa Romeo ‘916’ Spider is a car that’s definitely on the up in terms of values at the moment. Styled by Pininfarina and gorgeous from any angle, it’s a beguiling and rewarding sports car to own and one that’s sure to be a sound investment for the future.
This one comes from an owner who has always had and loved Alfa Romeos and has been stored during his ownership in a dry garage with a fitted car cover. It’s one of only two black 3.0 V6 models known to still exist and is in fabulous condition. One to genuinely cherish.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

 • Maintained by one of the UK’s top Alfa specialists
 • Mot until April 2023
 • UK V5C
 • Service book and original manuals
 • Several service and repair invoices
Registered in 2002, the Spider covered a minimal mileage early in its life as a stamp in the service book in 2007 proves – it shows just 9,000 miles. It has covered a further 59,000 since and has been enthusiast-owned and maintained during that time, with the vast majority of the service and repair invoices from Jamie Porter, who is known as one of the UK’s leading Alfa Romeo specialists.
The car has just passed an MOT with no advisories. It has a V5 in the vendor’s name and three sets of keys, along with the all-important red Alfa Romeo master key.

THE INTERIOR

 • Immaculate grey leather
 • Air conditioning
 • Electric hood
The grey leather upholstery was an expensive option when new and complements the black bodywork perfectly. It’s in superb order and exceptionally clean and fresh inside with no obvious issues.
All of the controls work as they should including the power-folding hood, while the original tool kit is still in the boot.

THE EXTERIOR

 • Gleaming black paint
 • No dents or damage
 • Excellent alloy wheels
 • Very good hood with new rear window
The Spider is a fabulous car to look at from any angle and it looks especially appealing in black, which tones down the wedge-shaped lines and catches reflections perfectly.
It’s in fabulous condition with no damage to speak of – just one or two small stone chips on the bonnet.
The fabric soft-top is in excellent order and has no rips or tears, while the vendor has just had the rear window replaced as the original was slightly deteriorated. It’s a fine-looking car in superb order.

THE MECHANICS

 • 3.0-litre V6
 • Six-speed manual
 • Runs sweetly
 • Recent head gasket replacement
This is the ultimate Spider – the 3.0 V6 model that was the flagship of the range. The ‘Busso’ engine is a wonderful thing – to listen to, to look at and to drive.
A couple of years (and very few miles) ago the vendor had the head gasket replaced along with the water pump, cam belt, discs and pads as part of a major service at a cost of almost £3,000 – things the new owner won’t have to worry about! The radiator and centre exhaust have also been replaced saving further potential expense.
The vendor reports that the car drives without fault.

SUMMARY

This car has everything going for it. Low mileage, great history, clearly loved and cherished by its previous owner, the best spec, the best engine and a fabulous colour scheme. There’s nothing about it not to like. If you’re in the market for a Spider, then you’ll have to look long and hard to find one that’s better than this.
