When it launched at the Turin Motor Show in 1996, the new Mercedes-Benz SLK R170 series with its folding hardtop was an instant hit. 

The compact sports convertible debuted in some markets with a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engine, while UK customers had the more powerful 2.3 litre supercharged “Kompressor” which produced 190BHP. 

The Mercedes-Benz SLK on sale with Car and Classic is a facelift 320 model with the 3.2L engine producing 215BHP, that has covered very low miles.

This 22 year old Mercedes-Benz SLK320 was first registered in July 2000 and has covered an average of just 1,300 miles in that time frame. 

The cars mileage appears to be confirmed by its MOT history and also by a print out from Mercedes-Benz service records, which has a total of 44 entries. 

The earliest of these is from 28th July 2000 when the car had covered 259 miles.

The history file includes a number of previous maintenance invoices and past expired MOT certificates. 

And the car has a valid MOT until 16th December 2022 with an advisory for wear to the front tyres.

When it was launched in 1996 the compact sports convertible was well specified and this facelift model still stacks up well today. 

It boasts heated electric seats, cruise control and dual zone climate control which are nice features to have. 

The black leather interior looks to be in nice shape in the photos with just a few marks present as one would expect with use. The wood inlay also appears to be in good shape as do the carpets and over mats.

The seller states that everything works as it should but notes that the aircon is not blowing cold so it could do with a re-gas.

The R170 series has aged well since its debut in the mid 1990s and is fast approaching modern classic status. 

The compact good looks are easy on the eye making it an attractive sports convertible that still looks good today.

This example is finished in black metallic which has a nice shine in the photos. 

There are some scuffs and rub marks present on the front and rear bumpers which are shown in the photos. Plus there are a few scratches and dings which are also shown. 

The alloys could also do with refurbishment.

The seller states that the SLK320 drives very well down the road and was recently serviced by him, with a stamp in August in the service book to confirm. 

He goes on to say that the electric roof works well and goes up and down smoothly with no issues.

The car has the toolkit and jack in the boot along with the first aid kit and comes with two keys and the remote fobs.

This 2000 Mercedes SLK320 is a powerful and well specified luxurious sports convertible that still holds its own today.

Despite its compact size it is a practical sports car with a decent sized boot and the added benefit of a metal folding roof.

Having covered such low miles over the past 22 years the mighty V6 has barely been exercised.

With some of the cosmetic issues sorted this would make a very smart example of an appreciating modern classic.
