Highlights
- Only 47,000 miles from new
- Excellent silver paintwork
- Recent service
The Appeal
Enjoy stately elegance in this silky smooth Jaguar.
Jaguar’s XJ series of executive saloons were for a long time the go-to choice of transportation for British Prime Ministers, showing their patriotic support for a traditional British manufacturer, without being seen in anything too flashy.
This particular example wears smart silver paintwork and benefits from low mileage.
The History and Paperwork
- Only 47,000 miles from new
- Long MoT
- Just three previous owners
- Original Driver’s Handbook and service record
- Personalised number plate included
The Interior
- Polished walnut dashboard
- Comfortable cream leather seats
- Cruise control
XJs are all about passenger comfort, with sumptuous leather upholstery, thick carpets and a supremely smooth ride. And this example is no different.
Its fluted leather remains in great condition, but with some cracking to the driver’s seat evident. The electrically adjustable seats remain well padded and supportive.
Its fluted leather remains in great condition, but with some cracking to the driver’s seat evident. The electrically adjustable seats remain well padded and supportive.
The finely figured veneer on the dashboard and door trims remains highly polished and in good condition. Mounted upon the steering four spoke steering wheel are the cruise control buttons, making for relaxed long distance motoring.
Overall, this car’s interior has benefited from its low mileage and remains in very presentable condition, despite its age.
The Exterior
- Excellent paintwork
- Sunroof
- Smart metallic silver
The original choice of metallic silver for the paintwork has aged well, ensuring that this car does not look out of place on any modern road.
The vendor states that the car has benefitted from being stored in a garage for most of its life, which has preserved the paintwork and the car’s overall appearance.
There are of course a few small blemishes in places such as the wing mirrors, but certainly no more than you might expect from a car with such low mileage. A very small patch of blistering has appeared below the rear windscreen, as can be seen in the photographs.
The exterior of this car is generally in very presentable condition.
The Mechanics
- 3.2-litre 240 hp V8
- Long MoT
- Timing tensioner upgrade
The V8 engine fitted to this Jaguar displaces 3.2 litres, making it the smallest engine offered by Jaguar for this generation of XJ. But despite this, it still manages to produce a very punchy 240hp.
The vendor states that the engine has benefited from having its original plastic timing tensioners replaced with upgraded metal ones. This should give the next owner some added peace of mind.
This car benefits from an MoT certificate which is valid until March 2023. And at the time of the test, the car also had an engine oil change.
Summary
A fine example of Jaguar’s refined executive saloon, offering graceful comfort and a 240hp V8 engine.
This XJ8 looks younger than its years and should give sterling service for many years to come.
