The Background
The Caterham 7 is a super-lightweight sports car produced by Caterham Cars in the United Kingdom. It is based on the Lotus Seven, a lightweight sports car sold in kit and factory-built form by the world renown Lotus Cars, from 1957 to 1972.
After Lotus ended production of the Lotus Seven, Caterham bought the rights to the design, and today make both kits and fully assembled cars.

The History
Little information is known of this Caterhams history, as the car has come in as a trade sale, and is being sold as such. What can be sourced online is the vehicles manufacture and registration in May 1999
The Paperwork
Much of the vehicles paperwork has diminished over time, with it only having V5C documentation and confirmation of MOT until August 2022.
The Interior
The interior on these is sparse at best to keep the weight down but fairly rugged and weather proof as they are so open to the elements. This car is fitted with 4 point harnesses and a roll hoop for safety.
It has bucket style seats which currently have covers on and a Momo steering wheel. It’s a tidy interior and the cockpit is quite snug with minimal creature comforts, but who needs air-con or massaging seats when you're racing around the tracks?

The Exterior
The exterior is straight, shiny and has minimal stone chips, it currently has what look to be almost new Minilite style wheels in a dark anthracite colour which goes well with the black paint of the bodywork.
The alloys are wrapped in sticky Yokohama tyres. There is a removable hood that clips on should you get caught in a downpour and overall I would say the body presents very well and is certainly more than acceptable for a blast on the track or around the lanes.

The Mechanics
This car is fitted with the 1796cc Vauxhall engine mated to a Five-speed gearbox which starts and runs ok. It also has Twin Weber Carburettors with K&N Air Filters and a 4 into 1 exhaust which means it breathes well and sounds throaty.
It has an MoT until August 2022, but has had very little use of late so the seller strongly recommends a good going over before any use.

The Appeal
They say that the Caterham Seven (formally the Lotus 7) is one of the best pound for pound handling cars money can buy.
Whilst they may not pack a supercar punch they make up for this in their lightweight construction , more than capable chassis and the fact that you are so exposed you can physically see what the wheels are doing at any moment allowing you to make sure you hit that apex every single time.
Due to the popularity of these cars they do hold their value quite well and are often a track day favourite. This particular car is in good used condition and has valid MOT but has had little use of late so could do with a good going over before hitting the track. That said, once given the all clear, this little car will put a smile on your face like no other and when buying a track toy or b road blaster, that’s all we're looking for and ultimately that’s all that matters.
