The Appeal
Introduced for the ‘99 model year, the Bentley Sedanca Coupe was a unique iteration of the Bentley that took inspiration from the early days of limousine driving, with a removable roof panel over the frontmost driver and passenger seats. It was certainly an unusual decision - and particularly striking, with a whopping price tag of £245,000.
This example is an excellent survivor, with all of its luxurious 90’s opulence and enduring character perfectly on display.

The Interior
- Sumptuous sandstone interior with Ebony black veneers
- Highly original with plenty of luxury period options
- Unusual Sedanca cabin
As you’d expect from a Bentley, this Sedanca Coupe is luxuriously appointed with plenty of features and a high-end leather two-tone lustre. With only the slightest patina to the bolsters, it makes a very pleasant, luxurious cabin with just that right balance between the old and the new.
It’s all still very tactile, relying on analogue indicators as much as it does digital, but boasts plenty of modern reliability. The air conditioning is present and correct, with plenty of controls, and the Bentley branding festoons just about every dial and corner. From what we understand, every option is in good working order, from the electric seats and windows to the climate control. We do note that some of the leather has been separated from the upper dashboard, which needs regluing.
The seats are free of any substantial rips and tears, with light surface cracking - however the bolsters all still look plump and comfortable, with plenty of form and good, tight stitching still in situ.
The carpets and headlining look in good order throughout, with nothing to report that might raise concern. The instruments, chromework, door furniture and sill plates all present very nicely, and the fit on the Targa panels prevents any water ingress or excessive wear.
The big boot is clean and well-presented with no faults we’re able to highlight.
The Exterior
- Ever-iconic shape with distinctive Bentley grille and subtle curving
- Targa top panels above the front of the cabin
- Eyecatching Bentley wheels with red branding
There’s no mistaking a Bentley, and even with its unique selling point, the Sedanca is still a highly recognisable example of perhaps the world’s most iconic luxury car. The iconic grille, the squared wings and eyecatching profile all make for a beguiling motor.
This example is in fine fettle, with some light blemishing and blistering to the paintwork and a very minor impression to the driver’s side door. These appear to be very minor, fairly isolated, and should be fairly easy to rectify at a Bentley dealership. The vendor has had this work valued at around £2,000 - a relatively minor cost for such a luxurious car.
The bodywork elsewhere is in good condition, with no significant faults we can discern. The glasswork and lenses are excellent, with no major chips or cracks, and the car is sat on its original set of wheels - which are accented very nicely with red ‘Flying B’ branding. These are shod in Pirelli tyres, which have plenty of tread.
The Mechanics
- Powered by the legendary 6.75L Turbocharged Bentley V8 powerplant
- 4-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission
- Self-levelling hydraulic suspension
Built for comfort and quiet, the Bentley Sedanca is an icon of performance, and this example is no different. Regularly cossetted, and running as expected, the engine bay is in great order, with Bentley’s signature engine head on proud display.
The car is reportedly starting first time with no issues, and we’ve had no reports of leaks, knocks, bangs or smoke. The MOT history of the car is clear all the way back to 2005, and the latest came with zero advisories.
Summary
Thoroughly well-presented, this unique iteration of the world-famous Continental is bound to impress. These cars are incredibly rare sights on the road, and should give the driver a very unique sense of pure, cossetting luxury with a distinctive twist.
