The Appeal

In recent years Mercedes-Benz’s R129 model rightfully has gained a place in the pantheon of cars which we regard as classics. It is appreciated for its capable engineering, effortless style and luxurious appointments.

This particular Mercedes features a thumping great five-litre V8 engine, with lashings of power on tap. This is fed to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission and it produces all the right noises when you want it to.

And for when you want to settle into a long drive, the black leather interior looks very comfortable. It features modern niceties such as heated seats and a panoramic glass roof.

So if you’re after a highly capable modern classic, this SL 500 is certainly one to consider.

There are very few marks, blemishes or scratches that we could see
Some small marks to the underside of the bumpers
A very small area of bubbling can be seen next to the driver’s door handle
The chrome badges and trim appear to be in good condition

The car comes with its hard top fitted, which features a glass roof panel
AMG alloy wheels
There is a little bubbling to the wheels in places
The vendor tells us that the underside of the car is in good condition, with very little corrosion
It has previously been undersealed
The rear tyres are said to be newly fitted, while the fronts could benefit from also being replaced
