The Appeal

Over time, the Land Rover platform has been adapted for both civilian and specialized Military use, gaining huge popularity along the way. The Land Rover Wolf is the name given to utility vehicles based on the Defender platform, with the 110 of course being the larger variant.
The vehicle was designed to be even more reliable, and much stronger than the original Land Rover. It achieved this, partly thanks to a re-inforced rear axle and bespoke chassis for greater structural rigidity. The Wolf was also fitted with the 300 TDI engine as it was much easier to repair in the field and didn’t rely on complex electrical components like the TD5 engine.
This Land Rover lives up to expectations and still stands as an exceptionally reliable and capable vehicle to this day. This particular example is arguably one of the finest MoD vehicles available on today’s market, and would no doubt look at home as part of a collection or doing what it does best; tackling anything you need it to.

The History and Paperwork

  • Originally built for the special forces, then released in February 2020
  • Valid MOT until February 2023
  • Release paperwork, V5C and MOT certificates present
  • 2 keys included
This fantastic Land Rover has an interesting past, having been originally assigned to the 22nd SAS Regiment as a “Fitted For Radio” vehicle. Throughout the 15 years spent with the special forces, the Defender saw very little use and spent a fair amount of time in storage, until it was released by the UK Ministry of Defence on the 24th of February 2020.
Having been built for the military and well maintained, it should come as no surprise that the vehicle clearly benefits from years of regular servicing and care. Under the current owner’s possession, the vehicle remains exceptionally reliable and has covered over 19,000 kilometres without issue.
Buyers will be pleased to know that this Land Rover comes with an assortment of paperwork including previous MOT certificates, the MoD service certificate and the DVLA registration confirmation. The paperwork also includes the user guide for the TV and the V5C document, ready to sign over to the new owner.

The Interior

  • Excellent condition
  • Exmoor front seats
  • 4 jump seats with quick-release belts
  • Packed with upgrades (TV, Touch screen radio, etc)
The interior is a surprisingly comfortable and characterful place to find oneself, with more comforts than the average Defender and full of additional goodies. The front Exmoor seats are in fantastic condition, as are the leather steering wheel and all controls.
The driver is also treated with a touch screen head unit complete with phone connectivity, which pairs well with 4 surround speakers throughout the cabin. In the rear, you’ll find 4 jump seats equipped with quick-release TRS belts, all within viewing distance of a snazzy roof-mounted TV.
As this Defender is fitted with the REMUS project upgrades, the cabin also plays host to additional front roll-over protection, as well as added vibration acoustic matting. The acoustic matting pairs with internal roof insulation to help provide quite a bit more warmth and comfort than is typically found in this era of Defender.
Overall, the interior of this vehicle is in excellent condition, with just a few exceptionally minor scuffs here and there. It’s comfortable, clean, and very well equipped.

The Exterior

  • Very well presented
  • Additional door armour, steps & Chequer plate
  • LED lighting upgrades
This Defender still looks absolutely fantastic and holds a tremendous road presence. Having seen very little use from its time with the 22nd SAS Regiment, the green paintwork shows very few signs of age.
All 5 wheels are also in excellent condition for their age, with just the most minor signs of wear starting to peak through. All wheels are also wrapped in a new set of Michelin O/R tyres, with plenty of tread for the new owner to enjoy.
This particular example stands out from other Land Rovers, partially due to the upgrades installed by the current keeper. These include side and rear door steps, additional door armour, a wind deflector, stylish chequer plating on the bonnet and modern LED lighting upgrades all around.

The Mechanics

  • 300 TDI 2500cc engine with R380 5 speed gearbox
  • Transfer box with Hi/Lo ratio & centre diff lock.
  • Drives perfectly and is in full working order
  • Regularly serviced and maintained
  • New cambelt and tyres
This 110 Wolf stands head and shoulders above the majority of rival Land Rovers, boasting a heavy-duty chassis & axles, power-assisted steering, disc brakes both front and rear, as well as the above engine & gearbox combination.

Built to be a much more reliable and dependable vehicle for the Ministry of Defence, it should come as no surprise that the vehicle lives up to expectations and performs without fault. According to the current keeper, the vehicle drives “mint” and needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed on or indeed off the road.
As part of the REMUS upgrade, this Land Rover was also treated to wax-injected chassis/bulkhead, as well as a full chassis underseal. As a result of this, it doesn’t show signs of the corrosion/parts wear typically seen on Land Rovers that have been exposed to the elements.

Summary

This rare ex-military Defender 110 Wolf is in fantastic condition and comes equipped with numerous upgrades, including the desirable Project REMUS upgrade package.

With just 64K on the clock, this well-cared-for Land Rover is in full working order and will happily handle anything you throw at it in true Defender fashion.
