Offering German reliability with a laid-back cruiser riding style, this 1997 BMW R1200c would make a great two-wheeled companion for road trips, and benefits from genuine low millage and only two owner from new. 
The BMW R1200c is a Harley-Davidson rival with German engineering. Like most cruisers, it sells on its good looks - this particular model had a part in the Bond movie, Tomorrow Never Dies. Power is pretty modest considering the 1200cc shaft driven engine, but it’s more than enough. Dynamically its better than many cruisers thanks to the engineering and light(ish) weight. German build quality made to last.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • Current V5 present
  • Current MOT Certificate with 9 months still running 
  • The BMW comes with the current V5 and current MOT until April 2023.
  • The most recent service took place in May 2016 at 8,683 miles and was carried out by John Clark Tayside BMW.
  • Prior to this, the bike was also serviced in April 2015 and April 2013.
  • The full service history is recorded in the accompanying booklet. 
  • From the factory, this R1200c was specified with remotely adjustable hydraulic rear shock absorber, heated hand grips, engine protection bars, a pillion seat, panniers with inner bags, and screen. 
  • Two keys are present, including one rear BMW tank shaped key as seen in photographs. 

THE EXTERIOR

The overall look of this bike is stunning for its age! There appears to be no body or frame damage. The paintwork presents very smartly for its age, though the vendor notes that some of the chrome is showing signs of pitting and age related ‘patina’ The seat is in great condition, and has no rips, tears or major scuffs.

THE MECHANICS 

  • Exterior condition of engine is good with no visible leaks Starts on the button and runs beautifully
  • Transmission all reported to be working as intended a replacement battery fitted in February 2022 
  • The engine spot on mechanically and very clean with no coolant and oil leaks.
 
She starts first time and is fantastic to drive. The R1200c is powered by a 1170cc boxer twin engine producing 61 bhp, coupled to a five speed manual transmission. The vendor has been meticulous caring for the maintenance and servicing of this BMW! 

This particular bike is original throughout and has not been modified from the factory specification. Included with the bike are the owners original owners manual, service record, workshop manual, workshop bike stand, tool kit, and battery charger cable with mains charger. Correct BMW charge point and bracket fitted. The bike is currently stored off road under a valid SORN, with the last MOT exam taking place on the 19th of April 2022 resulting in a clean pass.
