The Background
First introduced in 1992, the Audi Cabriolet would offer consumers a stylish alternative to convertibles of the time, with superior build quality and reliability. Available with an assortment of engines over the years, the Audi Cabriolet initially sold at a steady pace but was yet to take the market by storm.
The car garnered its 2nd wave of popularity thanks to Princess Diana, who was often seen driving her Forest Green cabriolet in public. Enthused by members of the royal family at the time, the British public would begin to snap up the cars, and Audi’s sales for the model would skyrocket. It could quite easily be suggested that Princess Diana’s unusual enthusiasm for the German car at the time helped change Britain’s perception of European cars and could be partly responsible for a portion of the trust in Audi today.
Whilst it certainly didn’t blow critics away with its performance, the Audi Cabriolet provided fantastic German build quality, and developed a reputation for being a rather reliable platform. The electronic roof mechanism, and the way it seamlessly folds down when not in use still impresses to this day, and plenty of Audi Cabriolets are still tootling around Britain problem-free.
This particular Audi Cabriolet features the highly desirable 2.8L V6 engine, which was the largest naturally aspirated engine option available for the Cabriolet. It produces an iconic exhaust note, has plenty of power, and is often regarded as being the best engine for the car.
In addition to the fantastic V6, this Cabriolet also features heated seats, electric seats, and headlight washers as optional extras from Audi.
The History
Originally supplied by Charles Audi in Cheshire, this Pearl White Cabriolet spent its early days on the move but has covered rather few miles in more recent years. Throughout its owners, this car has been serviced at regular intervals and given everything it has needed mechanically. Having been dry stored by the current keeper, the car has been rather well preserved for its age and is now ready to be passed on to the lucky new owner.
The Paperwork
Buyers will be pleased to know that this stunning Audi Cabriolet comes with an assortment of paperwork with plenty of service history. This vehicle has been serviced by both main & independent dealers at regular intervals all the way from 2,360 miles up to 94,250 miles.
The paperwork also includes the original Audi folder and associated booklets, as well as a collection of previous MOT certificates, and invoices for work previously carried out. The car also comes with the V5C document, ready to sign the car over to its new owner.
The Interior
Equipped with a rather striking red leather interior, this cabriolet is very comfortable and is in excellent condition within. As expected, the driver's seat shows the majority of the wear found inside the cabin, but certainly doesn’t detract from the driving experience. All passenger seats, on the other hand, show minimal signs of usage, with the back seats clearly having been used only a handful of times.
The sporty 3 spoke leather steering wheel is an excellent touch and suits the sportier nature of this particular V6 cabriolet. Much like the door cards and interior carpets, the wheel itself is in fantastic condition and has clearly been well cared for.
The driver is also treated to a Pioneer head unit with a removable face, as well as an assortment of gauges to monitor vital information such as oil pressure and temperature. These are in excellent working order, and are free from damage, as are the dashboard and main cluster.
The Exterior
This Audi boasts Pearl White paintwork that glistens in the sun and captures the light differently from each angle. The colour is actually a £1500 optional extra from Audi’s exclusive paint range and suits this classy cabriolet perfectly. The paintwork itself is in great condition, with just a few age-related marks here and there that are easily rectifiable.
All exterior trim pieces and details have been well preserved, with no major signs of age showing on the chrome, glass, and badging. Renowned for its folding roof, it should come as no surprise that one of the key features of the cabriolet is the roof itself. The fabric is in excellent condition, folds away seamlessly, and shows few signs of wear.
All 4 wheels are in fair condition for the vehicle's age, showing minor signs of paint bubbling and minor flaws on the rim. Given how the wheels are still likely wearing their original finish, this is hardly something to worry about on a 25-year-old car. The car currently sits on a full set of Jinyu tyres.
The Mechanics
The mighty V6 fires right up with the turn of the key and is rearing to go. The powerplant pairs very well with the automatic transmission, to deliver smooth power throughout the full range, all whilst providing a brilliant soundtrack.
In addition to boasting no mechanical issues, there are also no known electrical faults (other than the passenger window falling slightly short of going fully down), ensuring peace of mind for the lucky new owner. All brake, suspension, and electrical components work exactly as intended and the car currently requires nothing to be enjoyed. Rather importantly, the electrical roof also performs flawlessly and seamlessly folds away in the back of the car when it is time for some sunny cruising.
As previously mentioned, the car has been well taken care of and has been serviced at regular intervals throughout its entire life, with the most recent service being less than 3000 miles ago.

The Appeal
Highly regarded by the late Princess Diana, the Audi Cabriolet was an immensely popular car in the mid-late 90s and offers a great balance of German engineering, brilliant reliability, and classy styling. With the warm weather on the horizon, this Cabriolet is perfect for sunny drives out with the roof down, with plenty of V6 power on tap.
