The Appeal
Launched in 1994 as a new “entry level” vehicle for the Aston Martin range, the DB7 is widely regarded as one of the prettiest cars ever built.
With the convertible ‘Volante’ following in 1996 and a number of special editions, it became the most successful car Aston Martin had built up to that point and truly revived the brand.
With the convertible ‘Volante’ following in 1996 and a number of special editions, it became the most successful car Aston Martin had built up to that point and truly revived the brand.
Here we have a very well preserved, genuine low mileage example of the DB7 Volante, presented in superb condition and with a very attractive specification.

Resplendent in two-tone cream and deep green leather, with complementary deep-pile green carpets and mats, the upholstery of this DB7 is presented in superb condition. The leather itself appears to be in a very fine state, with no evidence of wear, no tears and no sagging. Similarly, the carpets and over-mats look excellent. They’re original items and have no significant evidence of wear we can identify.
The cabin is liberally swathed with glossy wood trim, which all looks to be in very good condition, with no evidence of cracking, peeling or chipping. The rest of the internal trim is likewise presented very well.
All of the switchgear, instruments and controls look in near-perfect condition. The only note the owner makes is that there is an occasional ABS sensor warning light issue, which they believe to be due to the limited use the vehicle currently gets. Otherwise, they tell us that everything in the car functions just as it should. It’s a very highly specified environment for the age of the vehicle, and offers a real taste of luxury grand touring.
With a traditional 2+2 layout, the rear seats are probably best suited for children or as an extra luggage area. In combination with the good size boot space, it makes for quite a commodious cabin. Trimmed in grey carpet, which looks to be in nearly-new condition, the boot also contains a space-saver spare, toolkit and the CD multi-changer.
The Exterior
- Stunning metallic Black Emerald paintwork
- Original 12-spoke 18” alloys
- New Bridgestone PSport tyres
Finished in the gorgeous Black Emerald (a Rolls Royce colour) which has more than a hint of deep green in it, this DB7 is a real looker. The paintwork itself is in excellent condition, with no significant blemishes we could see, and no damage or corrosion evident on the bodywork itself. For a 25 year old car, it’s in very good condition indeed.
All of the trim elements are complete and in fine condition. So too is the black fabric roof, which has no signs of UV damage, tears or unusual wear and comes with a matching tonneau. The car rides on the original silver 18” alloy wheels, which look excellent and have no signs of kerb damage and truly belie their age.
Looking underneath the car, it appears to be very straight and solid, with no signs we could discern of damage or repair. There is some very light surface corrosion in one or two places, but certainly nothing that would concern us in any way.
The Mechanics
- 3,239cc inline-six
- Eaton supercharger
- Automatic 4-speed transmission
That creamy 3.2-litre, supercharged inline-six is a cracker of an engine. With plenty of power (335bhp) to effortlessly see off even the longest of journeys in absolute comfort.
Here it’s barely seen much use at all, with just 43,069 miles on the odometer and having covered less than 3,000 since 2015. It benefits from a part service history, carried out by independent specialists, and has been carefully maintained. In fact, it had a full service in May 2021, as well as having a new alternator fitted.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay is beautifully clean and original, with no signs of leaks or overheating. There is no indication of corrosion or damage to any of the ancillaries either.
The current owner tells us that the car drives beautifully, as you’d expect from an Aston Martin, accelerating, riding and stopping perfectly. There are no mechanical issues that they are aware of.
Summary
Presented with lovely paintwork, a stunning cream and green interior and genuine low mileage, this DB7 Volante makes a great case for itself. A highly capable machine, the DB7 makes for a superb grand tourer, with heaps of power, a cosseting interior and a very usable amount of luggage space.
We think you’ll struggle to find a nicer example than this, from the condition it’s presented in to its specification, it’s as close as you’ll find to the perfect open-top GT.
