Highlights
- 3.9-litre V8 and Bilstein suspension fitted by Overfinch in 2002
- Recently restored with extensive fabrication carried out to the underside
- Believed to have been 1 of 40 Vogues originally finished in British Racing Green
The Appeal
Since launch in 1969, the timeless boxiness of the Range Rover is instantly recognisable and one of the last to exemplify this aesthetic was the Range Rover Classic.
This 1994 example is believed to have been one of 40 to be finished in British Racing Green. We understand that it was latterly breathed upon by Overfinch, equipping it with Bilstein suspension and replacing the original 3.9-litre V8 with a new unit.
Subsequently, the car has been restored by its current owner, the work only recently being concluded. Now finished in Aintree Green and with a very handsome Caramel Interior, this Range Rover is ready to be used and enjoyed.

The Interior
- Caramel with brown piping
- Carpets and headlining replaced
- Factory sunroof
On the inside, Range Rovers of his period are akin to the furnishings of a stately home - luxurious enough for the aristocracy yet tough enough to cope with muddy wellington boots.
The restored Caramel leather seats are in lovely condition, with very little wear we could discern. The woodwork was apparently refurbished by the previous owner, who also fitted a matching wooden steering wheel.
The air conditioning functions really well and has now been converted to run on modern gas. We are informed that the carpeting and headlining was replaced by Nationwide trim, who also restored the original parcel shelf and refinished the door cards to original specification.
This example also came equipped with a sunroof from factory and the vendor reports that it functions smoothly. The central locking has been replaced and a Thatcham alarm is now fitted, with two key fobs present. A dash cam and discreet parking sensors add a splash of modern convenience.
Sound comes courtesy of an Alpine Bluetooth stereo system, which apparently works really well.
The Exterior
- Aintree Green
- 16” Land Rover original alloys
- Extensive restoration work carried out underneath
Recently restored, this Range Rover presents very well indeed in its fresh coat of Aintree Green. As the photographs of the restoration work show, this car required extensive welding work to the underside, which was completed in August 2022 by Lewmark Auto Company.
As a result, the paint and bodywork appear to be in excellent order, with no corrosion or evidence of previous damage we could discern anywhere on the vehicle. Naturally, the underside is also in very good order, having been recently repaired and reassembled.
The aforementioned parking sensors have been discretely fitted and colour coded to the bumpers.
The Mechanics
- Factory ‘Brooklands kit’
- Original air suspension removed and replaced with Bilstein dampers by Overfinch
- 3.9-litre V8 - (possibly by RPI)
We are informed that this Range Rover originally came equipped with Land Rover’s ‘Brooklands Kit’. The VIN suggests that it featured a 3.9-litre V8 from standard, although the car’s paperwork indicates that this was replaced with a similar unit, probably while at Overfinch.
It also has Bilstein dampers, the original air suspension no longer being fitted. This was a common Overfinch conversion that improved on-road handling and increased reliability.
An aluminium radiator was fitted during the restoration and we are informed that the car now holds a steady water temperature when running. The vendor reports that the Range Rover is fantastic to drive, starting running and stopping exactly as it should and changing gear smoothly.
Summary
Presented in lovely overall condition, this highly specced Range Rover is undoubtedly a modern classic and is equally at home in a muddy field or in the inner city.
Finished in a really fetching colour scheme and with a sonorous V8 soundtrack, this 1994 Range Rover really isn’t one to be missed.
