The Background
After many years of development, the original XJ-S launched in 1975. In 1989, Ford bought Jaguar and updated the production line with all new equipment, and in 1991, gave the XJ-S a facelift with significant mechanical changes, rebranding it as the XJS.
This new XJS has excellent build quality and the improved 4.0L straight six engine offers the perfect combination of performance, reliability and better fuel mileage. The new XJS features all round improved styling, and this, combined with the mechanical improvements, mean the XJS was finally the car Jaguar had always wanted it to be.

Production of the XJS ended in 1996 and since then, those built after 1991 have become more and more sought after as the fabulous grand tourers they are.
The History
The current owners bought the car in September 2020 with the intention of touring Europe in style, however the pandemic put an end to that plan and now, due to a move, they have decided to sell this wonderful XJS.
It has always been kept garaged (and it shows) and has only had occasional use for classic club events and touring the beautiful Exmoor countryside on sunny days. The owners have kept the car in the same fantastic condition they bought it in and it comes with a long MOT ready for the new owner to enjoy. The private plate is included in the sale.
The Paperwork
There is a fair amount of paperwork with the vehicle, and due to the relatively low mileage and the excellent condition it has been kept in, there has been no call for any major work.
All servicing has been carried out at the recommended intervals and there are Jaguar Main Dealer service stamps in the book up until 2017. The original Jaguar owner's manuals are included.
The Interior
The interior is in excellent condition throughout, the only exception being small sections behind the rear seats where the soft top has caught them on retraction. For the interior to be absolute perfection, some attention would be required. Air conditioning system was recharged in Sept. 2021 and works very effectively, as does the heater.
The leather, stitching and wood trim is all in very good condition and looks superb. All the details are very good, even the carpet in the boot looks great and the genuine original Jaguar toolkit is included and like new.
This car is an exceptionally comfortable place to be and will turn heads on a short trip in to town or on a grand tour alike. Sheer elegance and travelling with style exudes from this vehicle. It has been fitted with a modern Kenwood Radio/CD with USB port for convenience, but the original Jaguar radio is included with the car.
The Exterior
The exterior mirrors the excellent condition of the interior. With an instantly recognisable classic shape and style, the XJS is a car that makes an impression wherever it goes and this one is no exception. Finished in British Racing Green and with the hood down there are few finer looking British classic cars.
The paint and chrome work are all in very good condition. This particular XJS features upgraded wheels which, as with the rest of the vehicle, are in superb condition.
The headlights have been upgraded to the twin style which significantly improves the overall look of the car and increases night time visibility. The original headlamps are of course included in the sale. Also included are two made-to-measure XJS specific covers; a dust cover for use in a garage and a cover for exterior use, which has not been used as the car has been kept garaged.
The Mechanics
This XJS drives beautifully and mechanically this car is in fantastic condition and provides a smooth and luxurious driving experience. Having been kept garaged the car appears free from corrosion and the 4.0L straight six sounds marvellous with no unexpected noises.
Worth noting is just how good the mechanical operation of the hood is, smoothly and quickly raising and lowering with no issues. There is some wear to the rear of the hood as shown in the images.
As can be seen in the images, the engine bay is almost immaculate, and this is representative of the care taken keeping this car in such good condition.
The Appeal
The XJS is an iconic British GT car that's hard not to love, however finding the right one can be tricky. This is that one. In fantastic condition throughout, both mechanically and aesthetically with the best engine of all of the options, finished in the best colour and it’s a convertible to boot.
This XJS provides a luxurious driving experience with a combination of refinement and panache that few other cars can equal. With it’s elegant design and drop top this XJS is at home touring quaint coastal villages as it is cruising down the autobahn. We don’t often see such fine examples of these great Jaguars, bid quickly, this one won’t be around for long.
