The Background
The T25 is known throughout most of Europe as a T3, being the third generation of the VW Transporter. It’s a key part in the evolution from the world renowned split screen vans to the modern VW vans that dominate the small camper segment today.
The Syncro is the four wheel drive version and was successful in many markets where the extra ruggedness and utility was highly valued. Made by Steyr Puch in Austria the 4WD system built a solid reputation to match the rest of the van.

The History
The current owner, Tony, purchased the van in Australia in 2008. This particular T25 was recommended to him as the previous owner, Werner, had a reputation with the Syncro owners club for keeping the van maintained to the very highest standards, apparently Werner’s van was the one to have.
The current owner travelled across Australia (almost an entire continent) to pick up the van and drive it back to his then home near Perth, which by all accounts was a bit of an adventure.
When he later decided to move back to the UK he could not bear to part with the van, so he had it shipped halfway around the world into the UK, where he has kept it until now. Recently after experiencing an overheating issue he decided it was time for a full engine rebuild and now that having been completed this fantastic van is up for sale.

There is a good selection of paperwork that comes with the van, the most prominent of which is the extensive and detailed receipt that covers the just-done full engine rebuild. As well as the usual receipts there is the original manual for the parking sensors that were fitted back in Australia and the obligatory Haynes manual.
The Interior
The interior is in good overall condition for a van of its age with signs of use, but everything is functional and well presented. Given the relatively diminutive size of the van when viewed from outside the interior feels bigger than expected and the large windows ensure the interior is bright and open feeling.
With swivel seats and a large two person bed the van offers a comfortable living space for when you are out on the road. The metal bed frame has been fitted with a hydraulic lift system to raise the beds to provide access to the engine.

The Exterior
The van looks fantastic and the exterior is in very good condition overall. Finished in white with the classic VW styling it’s an iconic camper that offers looks as well as utility.
Some of the plastics are now more grey than black, but they are all intact and little refresh would really finish off this already very good van.

The Mechanics
This van has been very well cared for and this is apparent from the moment you first set eyes on it.
Mechanically it is spot on, with the 2.1L engine having just been rebuilt (it’s been driven back from the garage and that’s it!) and a remarkably clean underside this van really sets itself apart from others of this generation. Everything works as it should and the engine starts first time and runs beautifully.
