THE APPEAL
Directly descended from the original 1948 utility Land Rover, the Defender was the last of the 4x4 manufacturer’s truly classic models and has a thriving cult following.
This one is a 1988 example, but you wouldn’t notice just by looking at it as it appears to be much more modern, with a later ‘Puma’ bonnet and front bumper incorporating auxiliary fog lights.
It also has a few tasteful modifications, such as an improved interior using Ford Fiesta ST seats and a touchscreen smartphone-compatible stereo.
Freshly serviced and with a brand new rear crossmember to assuage any concerns around chassis corrosion, the Ninety has a brand-new MOT and is the perfect entry into classic Defender ownership.

Defenders are hugely popular, especially in Station Wagon form where they’re a truly brilliant multi-purpose family vehicle as well as an all-time British icon. This one is a great example that has been rebuilt to a standard where its ready to enjoy, with looks that belie its age and an extremely solid underside, as well as being in excellent mechanical condition.
It’s a great spec and colour, mildly modified but not overdone, and ready for its next adventure – an adventure that could well be yours.
