THE APPEAL

With the reign of Jaguar's E-Type coming to an end, Jaguar needed a new figure, a new car that would display the very manifestation of the brand and in 1975 the XJ-S was revealed. Built to be grand, luxurious and powerful, the XJ-S provided an elegant grand-tourer experience encased in a superbly styled sleek body.
This exceptional example comes with an exceptional history. Starting life on the channel islands, the V12 Convertible has covered a mere 37,166 miles, benefiting from extensive maintenance and care throughout its existence.

Adopted into the largest-ever collection of British Cars, the Dr James Hull collection in 2005 and then by Jaguar in 2014 and recommissioned and used as part of their heritage collection in Germany the car is now owned by an enthusiast who has invested over £7,000 bringing the car up to a distinguished standard.

Presented in great overall condition, the aristocratic interior of this Grand-Tourer is a comfortable and civilised experience. The premium interior has been amplified thanks to a recent cleaning and refurbishment of the leather plus French polishing of the ski slope centre console. Very little wear is evident, with any blemishes being an embryonic stage.

The carpets display minor marks and sagging but take nothing away from the car's grandeur. Some switches have been renewed with new OEM units and the speaker for the Motorola car phone has been removed but accompanies the car.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Fabulous grand tourer convertible
  • Presented excellently with only minor blemishes present
  • Sweeping sporty body, with an imposing stance
Externally, the majestic convertible is in excellent condition with only the smallest of blemishes present. The attractive blue paint sheens handsomely as does the homework with no indication of patina showing on the bumper trims.

The coach lines have been removed from the car, which has left a discrete reminder of their presence which has been touched in. In addition, there is a small blemish on the boot lid. The imposing, dignified appearance of the XJS is heightened in Cabriolet form, the folding black roof retreats easily into a matching tonneau cover, allowing for the cab to be engorged by the tremendous V12 ensemble.
