The Background
The Ferrari 308 GTB was made famous by Tom Selleck in his role as Magnum PI, some 10 years or so later the 308 was given a performance upgrade and the 328 GTB and GTS was born.
The targa model has the removable hard top and also received a number of body styling updates but thankfully kept the trademark hidden front lights and side scoops.
It’s regarded as a very usable classic and still commands good money due to only 1548 being made worldwide.
The History
This particular example was sold new in the USA (hence LHD) in 1988. The first owner then sold it to its second owner in 1997. It changed hands again stateside in 2015. This owner then took the car to Guernsey in the Channel Islands where it was eventually purchased by the current owner.
The Paperwork
In the paperwork are all of the necessary documents supporting the car's history , its service history and also its shipping/customs documentation from import including any import checks that were carried out.
All the necessary registration paperwork is present as is any MOTs etc needed. There are also a few Ferrari manuals.
The Interior
The interior comes in the beige/biscuit coloured leather and is truly stunning. The Rosso red exterior and this interior has to be the ultimate Ferrari colour combination.
The Momo steering wheel is in great condition and you can see how everything is set up in the cockpit to face the driver. The stainless gaited gear selector is practically a work of art.
It really is stunning.
The Exterior
The exterior finished in Ferrari Rosso red is in fine condition with no damage to report. There is the odd minor stone chip but overall it's in very nice condition with the plastics, removable hard top, scoops and plastic trim including the rear spoiler are in fine fettle. The hard top is stowable behind the seats and the leather bag is provided.
The 16” wheels are in as perfect condition as you can get and really set it off, a classic 80s look.
The private registration number does not come with the car. The car has now been issued with an appropriate age-related registration number by DVLA - E342 WEX.
The Mechanics
Mechanically the car has covered just 43, 825 miles and has been well maintained over that time. It starts , stops and sounds fantastic and has plenty of get up and go, just like a Ferrari should.
The car has some history in the file and has not seen or required a rebuild of any kind according to the history.
The Appeal
The Ferrari 328 GTS is basically an 80s icon, I mean just look at it. It has all the necessary angles to make waves in the 80s and no doubt featured on many a young persons wall as a poster pin up.
Today , built in low numbers they are still a sought after model as they are known for being on the more reliable end of the thoroughbred scale, and let’s face it everything 80s is back in fashion nowadays.
Low mileage, the right colour combo, killer style and lets not forget its drives as well as it looks, what more could you want in a classic sports car with the famous prancing horse on the badge.
