The Appeal
This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a well cared for A70-generation Supra in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.
Clearly a lot of time and money has already been spent by the previous owner(s) getting it to its current very high standard, leaving the new owner to enjoy what is an outstanding and useable classic Japanese sports car.
The History and Paperwork
- Supplied new as a UK car in 1987
- Believed to have been restored around 2005 although there is no documentation for this
- Last MOT tested in June 2022 where it passed first time with no faults or advisories
- Service book noting all MOT dates
- Comes with original Toyota repair manual documentation
- Incredibly rare in that it comes with 3x Toyota Keys
- Log book present
This car was cared for by a single owner from 1993-2017 who put the majority of mileage on it as well as seemingly completing the restoration process. It has covered very little mileage since then and remains in very fine condition.
The Interior
- Overall interior condition can be described as nice
- Little to no wear on the blue seats, carpets and door cards which all present very nicely. The only significant fault to note would be a small mark on the driver’s seat that appears to have been professionally repaired to a good standard
- All switchgear is said to function correctly, although the air con needs a re-gas
- Boot area is clean and tidy with the load cover still present and in good shape
- Rear seats appear to have been hardly used at all
- Only significant fault to note would be a small mark on the driver’s seat that appears to have been professionally repaired to a good standard
Step into the fantastically well-preserved interior of this Supra and you are instantly transported back to peak 1980s Japanese sports car design, with the striking blue interior. As with any car of this age, minor signs of aging are to be expected.
The Exterior
- In good condition given its age and mileage
- Gorgeous white paintwork
- No cracks or damage to any of the lights
- Pop-up headlamps are working well
- All original alloy wheels are in good condition
- No visible signs of corrosion anywhere on the vehicle
- The underside has been treated to preserve and protect the underbody components
This is a truly stunning looking car. Judging by its overall condition, it has clearly been well cared for.
The only real exterior faults to note are two marks on both front windows. Some exterior defects are to be expected consummate with the car’s age and mileage, but the buyer is highly unlikely to be disappointed with the exterior condition - it is superb.
The Mechanics
- Mechanically in very good working order
- Original 7M-GE 3.0-litre engine starts first time and revs beautifully
- Auto gearbox is nice and smooth with no untoward noises
- Judging by the visual condition, the exhaust appears to be fairly new and is nice and quiet
- Brakes, steering and suspension components all work as they should
- Engine bay is spectacularly clean and tidy with no visible leaks from the engine or any of the ancillaries
Overall this Supra is in very good running and driving condition. The engine and gearbox perform superbly well on the road and the car is said to handle very nicely.
To prepare the car for sale it has had two new tyres and a brake overhaul at the rear. The only known faults are the air conditioning that needs re-gassing and bonnet struts that need refurbishing.
Summary
An outstanding example of a well loved and cared for A70 generation Supra. Because the interior and exterior are in such incredible condition and the mechanicals are also in good order, it would suit any enthusiast buyer whether they want a useable classic Japanese car or something handsome to simply store away and stare at.
