The Appeal
Mercedes’ iconic R107 SL series of cars is one of those cars that rarely needs an introduction. Engineered to an impressively high standard, the later 300 SL’s benefitted from the new range of engines and were sold with galvanised bodies. Their respectable image and reputation for durability are just a couple of reasons why these cars still resonate with classic car buyers to this day.
Well-liked for its civil road manners, practicality and ease of driving, its virtues are strengthened by the consensus that it is an ideal all-around classic car for those who like their metal with familiar modern touches with a touch of retro-class.
Finished in the iconic Signal Red, this Automatic 1987 car runs very well and comes complete with its factory hardtop and healthy servicing history. It is in need of recommissioning but comes with a detailed condition summary carried out by Hightone Restorations, which acts as a script to potential help bring this well-presented example back to scratch.

Ideally, the car would need attention to its floor pan and some cosmetic fixes, but the right ingredients are there and as a near-complete car, the rewards will be worth investing in.
