The Citroen 2CV is one of those cars that everyone knows, and it sits among some classic power houses of the automotive industry.

It was the simple but innovative design that sealed the success of this French classic. Launched in 1948 in Paris, it was in production all the way to 1990 in which time several improvements were made, but the classic lines of the 2CV remained.

We have all heard the story about carrying a basket of eggs on the passenger seat across a plowed field at speed without breaking any which is now a legendary story.

With this example being one of the later ‘Dolly’ versions it benefitted from two tone paint and several of the aforementioned changes made in the previous 40 years.

This little 2CV has had a nice life, with lots of paperwork to back up its history. Since its registration in 1987 it has only seen three owners, with one being a specialist 2CV dealer.

For the past few years, it has been strictly driven in the summer and as a result the milage is still very low.
 
Throughout the current ownership there has been lots of work carried out, including the kingpins, new front and rear bumpers, and a new stainless exhaust system.

It even comes with the original radio cassette player.

 
There is documentation with the car that shows all the work carried out.

There has been a combination of cosmetic and mechanical work completed, this ranges from new fog lamps and a chrome grill to new brake discs and pads all round.

This 2CV also comes with its original bill of sale from 1987, something you probably wouldn’t see these days.

The interior of a 2CV will always be basic but functional and this example is presented in great condition. 

Over the current ownership there's interior parts that have been replaced, this includes sun visors, dashboard, seat covers and much more.

Presented in Bamboo Green over Alpine White,  this is an honest example of a 2CV.

The current owner has put a lot of love into this 2CV, so much so that it has been stored under a gore-tex rain cover when not in use.

With this car being looked after so well, as you can imagine any mechanical work that has had to be done has been done well. 

With new brake pads and discs, and king pins replaced back in 2018 and also a new battery not so long ago, this is a car that is ready to hit the road.

Everyone has a soft spot for the iconic Citroen 2CV, and this version of the cult French classic is a great example of how well they can be looked after and preserved, and it is a great example to look at. 

With this being a 2CV, you have the chance to transport your eggs across a plowed field without breaking them and when you get there enjoy a picnic. 

This is an honest car that will never fail to turn heads due its cute character and simple lines that have now become synonymous with classic French vehicles.
