1983 Land Rover Series III 109”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Less than 22,500 miles from new
  • Completely original and unspoilt bodywork
  • Chassis and underside restored
  • Engine completely overhauled

THE APPEAL

The “Series” generation Land Rovers are rapidly increasing in collectability, with the earliest examples commanding strong money for quite some time. But now, even Series IIIs are becoming quite valuable – a combination of nostalgia, ease of maintenance and a strong enthusiast following meaning they’re becoming more and more cherished.
Ones with a story are always well-liked, and this one has a great tale to tell, having been found on a farm in 2021, unused for the past 13 years and as a non-runner. A wonderfully original example of the 109” panel van, it was sympathetically restored underneath, mechanically overhauled but left exactly as found on top. It’s all the better for it, as it’s a truck with remarkable charm.
The vendor is a Land Rover collector and has had his fun with it, but now wants to crack on with a seemingly endless number of projects, so it’s time for the Series III to find a new home.

SUMMARY

This is a deeply characterful Land Rover that wears it history on its flanks for all to see – it’s far from concours, but it’s all the better for it, dripping with charm and patina and also a genuine 22,500-mile truck that drives brilliantly well.
Neither modified nor restored, but repaired in all the important places when needed, this is a fabulous example of a truly charming Series III – the likes of which you’ll never be able to replicate. One to be loved, enjoyed and preserved exactly as it is.
