The Appeal

What you’re looking at here is no ordinary Mini Clubman, this car has been totally restored by the previous owner and now sits in stunning condition. The restoration was photographically documented, and every invoice has been kept, including the original bill of sale.
During the car's recent history, it has been invited to many shows and even went on every London to Brighton run from 1995 to 2019. With such an incredible documented history you’re looking at one of the best Clubman’s in the country.

The History and Paperwork

  • We can trace this car's history back to the day it was bought in 1982
  • Luckily the original bill of sale has been retained and can be found in a frame
  • One item we must clear up first is the ownership history
  • Although the V5 documents 3 previous owners, it has really only had 1
  • It split its ownership between the owner and his company which has bumper up the ownership numbers
  • This would make the current owner only the second in the car’s 40 years of history
  • Now let’s move on to the restoration process which was always an ongoing process
  • Thanks to the photo album we can see a clear timeline of the restoration
  • It now has a few additional features that the original car would not have had
  • Powered by a 1275cc engine the power is sent to a Jack Knight D five-speed gearbox
  • It has a 1.7 SU carburettor supplying the fuel and air mix
  • The brakes have received a total upgrade, with four corners, servo-assisted, ventilated disc brakes
  • Every corner, and the spare, are all Ultralite Extreme replicas
  • It has then been protected by a Caudaulac corrosion prevention treatment
  • The interior received a lot of work as well with some lovely features
  • All of this work was documented, and all of the appropriate invoices are present
  • You will easily lose several hours looking through and understanding all of this paperwork
  • It is now your turn to own this glorious classic, become the third owner and enjoy it as the previous owners have

The Interior

  • Connelly hide seats
  • LED interior lighting
  • Sunroof fitted
  • Lots of wooden trim
  • Extremely comfortable
The interior of this Mini Clubman is an incredible place to sit and listen to the iconic 1275cc engine up front. Unsurprisingly the interior has been privy to a lot of restoration work and now sits in amazing condition.
Gone are the original seats, they have been replaced by a seat of beautifully trimmed leather seats. Upfront there are two reclining Corbeau GTS’ which provide a nice figure-hugging base. Trimmed in Connelly hide they should be very hard-wearing indeed. Since being recovered these seats have been looked after and as such as still in great condition. In the rear is one large bench seat that doesn’t look like it’s been sat in since the restoration wrapped. You’ll also find similar leather on the well-presented door cards.
Dotted throughout the cabin is a lot of dark wood veneer trim. Found on the door capping’s, dashboard, gear knob, and so many other places it elevates this interior to a whole new level. Over the years this veneer has aged well and still retains a highly lacquered finish, which looks stunning.
As you sit in the driver’s seat, you’ll be able to take in some other features that add to the charm of this Clubman. Firstly, you’ll be sat slap bang in front of that wonderful Moto Lita steering wheel, these are a must for a classic car. This steering wheel is made even more special by the engraved John Cooper signature and Cooper badge in the centre. Another area to look at as you’re driving are the Cooper Magnolia instrument gauges.
Up top, the headliner is in very good condition. Set into the headliner is a large sunroof that lets in a lot of light when it is open. This sunroof will be very useful during those summer months.
The main benefit of the Clubman over any other classic mini is of course the increased boot space. Upon opening the barn doors are the rear you are presented with a large space for all your bags. On the day of the photo shoot, all the car’s trophies were on display.
This car has an excellent interior that you can just hop in and go. Think of all of those memories you’ll make for you, your friends, or your family as you trundle across the world in your new classic.

The Exterior

  • Countryman external woodwork
  • A true head turner
  • Ultralite Extreme replica wheels
  • Gold coach lines
  • Wheel arch extensions
Wrapped in that instantly recognisable bodywork this Mini Clubman is presented in impeccable exterior condition. At a glance, you cannot help but gawp at the countryman wood frame, or the gold coach lines on the beautiful blue paintwork.
As no stone was left unturned during the restoration you can imagine that the paintwork was re-done. Still looking like new the paint is stunning and could still win you awards at car shows. To further enhance this paintwork the previous owner decided to add gold coach lines, a beautiful touch to an already stunning classic mini.
Another addition the previous owner made was that of the wooden frame from a Countryman. Since the restoration wrapped it looks to have been kept dry and away from moisture as there are no obvious areas of rotting wood at all. This wood frame adds oodles of character to this little Mini.
On each corner, you’ll find a well-presented Ultralite Extreme split-rim. Wrapped in a matching set of Yokohama tyres they really look the part. Even the spare wheel is the same style as well, a little detail that you don’t usually see with restored cars.
Up top, the roof has been recovered with new vinyl along with a new sunroof. This vinyl is still in great condition and no costly replacements will be needed any time soon.
Overall, the exterior of this Mini is in amazing condition and is still more than capable of winning trophies at car shows.

The Mechanics

  • Jack Knight D gearbox
  • 1.7 SU carburettor
  • Disc brakes on all corners
  • Perfect runner and driver
  • Ready for its next adventure
Under the bonnet of this Mini, you’ll find a well-presented engine bay that is filled with lots of shiny parts it certainly looks the part.
As you can imagine a lot of work has been completed to make sure that this car runs better than when it left the factory. There have also been a few upgrades along the way, a new 5-speed gearbox has been fitted, a 1.7 SU carb has been fitted, and also four brake discs. As a result, it has great performance on tap.
Out on the road, this Mini performs very well. Before the photo shoot, the car was taken on a quick little blast down some local lanes. No obvious knocks or squeaks were detected from the suspension and once up to temperature it had a lot of power on tap.
Getting out and about in this little Mini produces an experience and feeling that cannot be recreated by any other vehicle.

Summary

There isn’t anything quite like a classic Mini, and this Mini Clubman might just be the best out there at the moment. With a costly, £70,000 restoration, a mountain of paperwork, and lots of trophies it has a wonderful history.
If you miss out on this example, you’ll be waiting a long time for a comparable one.
