The Appeal
Since its inception, the MGB GT has gone racing, and it remains a popular choice for motorsport enthusiasts today. Agile, lightweight and versatile, it makes a great basis for a competitive race car.
This example has been comprehensively restored and rebuilt by the current owner, who has 50 years experience building race cars. As such, it presents in superb overall condition and would make for an excellent track day or competition car.

The Interior
- Completely stripped out and repainted in gloss white
- New fixed OMP racing bucket seat

- Control box installed on the side of the transmission tunnel
- Everything is in excellent or as-new condition
The Exterior
- Professionally resprayed Metallic British Racing Green paintwork, which presents in superb condition with no notable blemishes or marks apparent

- Brand new Mini-Lite style wheels
- Quick release bonnet pins and rear hatch catches
- Tow eyelets installed front and rear
- Perspex light covers in the style of the Sebring models
- External electrical cut-off
- Wide arches front and rear with bumper delete
- Underside is in excellent condition, newly finished and painted, with no marks or scuffs we could see
The Mechanics
- 1.8-litre B-Series four-cylinder engine with side-draft carburetor
- Engine has been fully rebuilt and we’re told it has “zero miles”
- Manual transmission
- Comprehensively refreshed drivetrain, suspension and brakes
- Disc brakes all round, with twin-pot callipers to the front, single-pot to the rear and new braided brake hoses
- GAZ shock absorbers all round
- Refurbished rear axle, differential and propshaft
- Limited slip differential and swirl pot fitted
Summary
With a fine-handling chassis and robust mechanicals, the MGB makes for a great little race car. And the fact that this one has been built to a very high standard by someone with five decades of experience makes is a truly desirable machine.
