THE APPEAL
MGBs are popular classics for a reason - they’re true driver’s cars that put a smile on your face every time you drive them. The wide support network and easy maintenance make them the ideal classic car for any enthusiast.
This is a lovely example in Inca Yellow with black mohair hood. Presented in very good condition, the car benefits from a full chrome bumper conversion and looks very smart as a result.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- First registered 4th May 1978
- Just four owners in the past 25 years
- Extensive work meticulously carried out and documented during this period
- MOT and Tax exempt due to car’s historic status
THE INTERIOR
- Black leather seat upholstery
- Beautiful walnut-look dash
- Moto-Lita wood rim steering wheel
- Kenwood CD/radio system
The vendor tells us that no expense has been spared in keeping this MG’s interior in top condition from fitting leather seats, to the beautiful walnut dash and Moto-Lita steering wheel. All of the trim and switchgear appears to be in nice condition, with minimal evidence of wear and use.
There is evidence of former corrosion present in the footwell, with a hole through the metal behind the pedals. Otherwise, the interior presents very well and appears to be in nice condition.
Black carpet runs through the cabin, and presents well, with no damage or staining we could see. Similarly, the boot is fully carpeted and includes a Minator Mini-Lite spare wheel with carpeted cover.

THE EXTERIOR
- Smart Inca-Yellow paintwork
- Chrome bumper conversion
- Minator Minilite alloy wheels in excellent condition
- Very little wear on tyres
In Inca Yellow and with chrome bumpers, this car looks to be in very fine order, and the owner tells us that it turns heads wherever it goes. Inca Yellow was only available during the model years 1978 and 1979, so is quite a rare original colour. Overall the paintwork is in very good condition, with a few minor paint chips and minor blemishes when looking up close.
The bodywork itself looks nice and straight, with no dents or corrosion we could see. To ensure longevity, the car was fully rust-proofed in 2012 with Dinitrol applied to the underside and injected into the doors and chassis.

The brightwork is in lovely condition overall with just a few minor blemishes visible on closer inspection. Similarly, the badging, light lenses and other external elements present well, with nothing missing and no notable damage or wear we could discern.
The black mohair top is of excellent quality and further adds to the desirability of the car. It looks to be in super condition, with no evidence of UV damage and no tears or damage.
Finally, a discreetly fitted towbar provides the added flexibility of pulling a trailer or small caravan - something the torquey B-series engine is easily able to do.
THE MECHANICS
- Reconditioned Moto-Build engine fitted Feb 2013
- Maintenance free electronic ignition distributor (CSI) with immobiliser and programmable ignition curves
- Overdrive transmission
- Power steering
- Recently fitted brake master-cylinder and servo, vented front discs, new pads and shoes
- Revotec cooling fan
A look under the bonnet shows that this car appears to have been well looked after. It benefits from a replacement engine, water pump, alternator, thermostat, brake servo and master cylinder to name but a few of the mechanical components that have been refreshed or replaced.
The CSI electronic distributor ensures optimal ignition reliability in all conditions, while the Revotek cooling fan keeps the engine cool even on very hot summer days. Making the car even more practical, the adjustable power steering makes it that bit easier to drive without robbing the steering of the feel MGB’s are known for. Added to this, the performance exhaust manifold adds a little more aural delight in the upper rev ranges.
We're told by the owner that the car drives like a dream, is sure to bring a smile to the face of everyone who is lucky enough to drive it and that it is eminently usable and at home on short countryside drives as well as long cross-country tours.
SUMMARY
There are few cars that deliver as many smiles per mile as an MGB Roadster. With their relatively light weight, excellent steering response and handling, enough power to keep the driver fully involved, low running costs and a fantastic soundtrack, we don't think you can go wrong.
This example is presented in very nice condition, having undergone some significant work to keep it in tip-top condition. If you've always wanted to put an MGB on your drive, then this would be a superb option.
