The Appeal
The fifth generation Continental was the longest car ever produced by Ford and the car is positively huge by our European standards. With distinctive American styling combined with its vast size the Continental creates an impression wherever it goes. All of this size allows for a vast interior fitted out with veritable sofas both up front and in the back.
The level of comfort this luxury car provides is truly remarkable. All of this coupled with the massive 7.5l V8 engine makes the Continental unlike any European car available then or now.

Everything about this car is big; from the dashboard to the luxurious seats it’s a spacious interior that’s extremely well appointed. Finished in beige the luxuriantly soft seats provide a relaxed driving experience that is almost unparalleled, and with the low ride height and soft suspension it doesn’t get much better than this.
The seats, dashboard and door cards are all in very good condition and the inside of this continental presents well overall. The headlining does have several holes and the bonnet release catch is missing.

The Exterior
- Finished in cream
- Paintwork is in generally sound condition with some areas that would benefit from attention
- Light lenses, windows, trim and brightwork are in fair condition
- Rear bumper requires attention
- Wheels are in good condition, but require new tyres
- Would benefit from a deep clean and full polish
- The headlight covers are working
The Continental cuts a distinctive shape, with its large grille, low stance and long body it’s a gorgeous car not often seen on our roads. Perfect as a project for light restoration the paintwork is generally sound with a few areas requiring attention as shown in the images.
The Mechanics
- The owner reports the car starts and runs
- Requires new battery
- Engine bay appears sound
As the car has been parked for some time, we were unable to start the car ourselves, however the owner reports that they jump started the car recently and that it starts and runs well with no unwanted noises. The car will need recommissioning prior to being put back on the road.
Summary
This Continental is a great opportunity to acquire one of these fantastic luxury vehicles in need of light restoration with a very low mileage.
