THE APPEAL
As it celebrates its 60th birthday this year, the MGB continues its reign as one of the best-loved classic cars in the world, and one of the most popular.
There are few other classics that enjoy such a brilliant amount of support through clubs and parts back-up, while they’re also sprightly and great fun to drive.
There are few other classics that enjoy such a brilliant amount of support through clubs and parts back-up, while they’re also sprightly and great fun to drive.
This example is one of the ones that may not have survived were it not for the support the MGB has seen from specialists, as in 2014 the vendor, a time-served motor engineer who also repainted the car himself, began restoration of the vehicle.
He has used the car sparingly since completed but has unfortunately had to give up driving due to failing eyesight, so is reluctantly letting the car go to what he hopes will be a long-term caring new owner who will get lots of enjoyment from his hard work
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Lots of bills and invoices from restoration
- Restored between 2014 and 2019
- Original parts retained where possible
- Private sale due to vendor having to stop driving
- Reluctant sale
- UK V5C
- Tax and MOT exempt
THE INTERIOR
- New carpets, doors trims and seats
- Black vinyl upholstery
- Sports steering wheel
- Immaculate crackle-finish dash
The B is in great condition inside, with excellent black vinyl seats and a smart crackle-finish dash.
The carpets are also superb, as is the black crackle finish dash. All of the controls and instruments work as they should and the cart was fitted with a replacement speedometer during its restoration as the original had packed up. The vendor therefore says that the mileage reading should be disregarded.

It’s finish in Alfa Romeo Rosso Red, the owner’s favourite colour, and was painted by him in a proper spray booth – he used to paint cars regularly and the quality of the workmanship is a pleasure to behold. It’s a really smart and lustrous finish with a deep shine.
The attention to detail is wonderful, too – as well as the upper body, the underside, inner wings, inner boot and bonnet area have received the same quality paintwork.
