THE APPEAL
Named after the Italian saloon car racing series "Turismo Internazionale", the Alfa Romeo Giulia TI was one of the most adored and best-handling sports saloons of the 1960s, with an impressive sales record, great performance and handling and an impressive motorsport CV.
With a fine chassis and fantastic steering, the Giulia was a great car, but also one with a lot of charm about it, due in no small part to its raucous and energetic twin cam engine, which even in basic 1.6-litre form was an absolute joy to exploit. The 2.0-litre, even more so.
It’s no surprise, then, to discover it was extremely popular in motorsport, and here’s your chance to get behind the wheel of a full-on competition-prepped TI, ready for road rallies or circuit racing and with all the essential safety kit.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
• Spanish registered
• Currently stored in France
• Prepped ready for circuit racing
The vendor of the Alfa Romeo is a former Alfa specialist who looked after the brand’s cars for over 30 years.
He also used to race 105-Series Giulias in the past and is still an active racer today – indeed, the only reason this car is for sale is because he has been given the opportunity to race a more modern Alfa Romeo.

The car is currently registered in Madrid, Spain, but has spent the past seven years living at the vendor’s property in France, where it has been kept in dry storage.
THE INTERIOR
• Racing seats
• Six-point harnesses
• Completely stripped
• Two-seater
There’s not really a huge amount to the Alfa’s cabin as most of it has been removed to save weight, although it retains its original dash and steering wheel.
Otherwise, the main feature is a full-size roll cage, along with twin racing seats and six-point harnesses.
THE EXTERIOR
• Solid shell
• Sealed bulkhead
• Good underside
• New tyres
According to the vendor, the shell is in remarkable condition for an Alfa Romeo of over 50 years old.
The sills are original and although there are a few very minor patches on the floor, overall the body is described as in excellent condition and rust-free. All the underseal has been taken off, to save weight.
It has been a dry climate car for all of its life, so has not been restored nor patched-up.

THE MECHANICS
• Completely refurbished head, new valves, guides and oil seals.
• New bearings, new clutch, running on Dellorto DHLA 40s
• Tubular exhaust manifold
• Low ratio 1300 Dif
• Competition springs all around
• Bilstein adjustable dampers
• Uprated front anti-roll bar
• Aeroquip hoses
• Upgraded servo
There’s a detailed list above of the work carried out on the Alfa and the vendor describes it as “very lively indeed”, with great performance, a form ride and even sharper than usual handling – which given the Giulia’s already impressive dynamics is an enticing description.
SUMMARY
This is a brilliant road-legal car that’s eligible for historic competition events, be them road rallies, hillclimbs or club circuit races.
It has been parked up for a while so will require some minor recommissioning, but it runs and is ready to go.
If you’re looking to break into classic motor sport or are after a well-prepped and lively car to upgrade to, then this is the perfect opportunity.
