The Background
The Morris Minor was released in 1948 as a two door saloon and was followed by the Traveller, the wooden framed estate in 1953. Production ran through to 1971. The Minor employed several radical design features that set it apart from other British cars of the time thanks to one of the designers Alec Issigonis.
The car proved to be a success from launch and is widely credited with helping the nation get back onto the roads after World War II. Whilst all versions of the Minor proved popular the Traveller is the one most people think of when picturing a Morris Minor, with its classic shape and distinctive wooden frame it’s the quintessential British car.
The History
The current owner purchased the car in 2019 in that time the car has undergone a full respray in Old English White along with a few other mechanical parts such as a fuel pump, battery and the rear bumpers, new distributor internals and caps. A full service including oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, leads, oil and coolant, new fan belt and windscreen washer pump has also been carried it.
They purchased it from a couple who had owned the car since 2011 and who originally purchased it as they wanted a classic that was big enough to take their rescue greyhound to classic car shows in. They had the interior entirely refurbished with reupholstered seats, new headlining, carpets, door cards and some of the interior wood restored.
The Paperwork
The car comes with a limited amount of paperwork that includes the original owners manual and a couple of small invoices. However, much of the work that has been carried out is obvious to see in the condition of the vehicle as shown in the pictures.
The Interior
The interior is in very good condition throughout with extensive refurbishment having been carried out relatively recently. The reupholstered seats look fantastic in red and provide the soft and comfortable ride that classic cars often have over their modern counterparts. The interior of the Traveller is surprisingly roomy and the boot offers a fantastic amount of space for what looks like a modestly proportioned car on the outside.
The Exterior
The exterior is in fantastic condition and the car looks brilliant in the newly sprayed Old English White. Most of the brightwork is in good condition and there were no signs of rust that we noticed, the rear bumpers are new and as such are perfect. The woodwork all appears sound and has clearly been well looked after, combined with the recent paint job the car really does look fantastic.
There are a couple of small chips to the paint as documents in the photos, but they really don’t detract from the overall presentation of the car. It’s believed that one of the previous owners has fitted Morris 7CWT wheels and tires, but otherwise it is completely standard.

The Mechanics
As with the interior and exterior the mechanical side of this car has been well cared for. It starts easy and runs smoothly. Whilst the engine bay might be quite as well polished as the rest of the car it has meticulously maintained and benefits from a recent full service which included all of the belts, any and all fluids and a full new set of plugs.
The Appeal
Possibly the most quintessentially British car ever made in an appropriate colour, Old English White, this is a fantastic example of easy to own, easy to drive classic. An instantly recognisable design that inspires nostalgia wherever they go, Morris Minor Travellers are a part of British history that we all love.
