The Appeal
Perhaps the most iconic vehicle of all time, the Mini is synonymous with British culture, motorsport, and automotive enthusiasm all across the globe. Prized amongst the range of classic Mini vehicles produced, is the legendary Mini Cooper S, known for its superb handling, characterful performance, and motorsport prowess.
This particular Mk2 Mini Cooper S is one of the rarer models available, with only 6,300 units believed to have been produced. As a result, finding tidy examples these days is proving to be a rather difficult task, making this superb example all the rarer.
This Cooper S has received a full nut and bolt rebuild, along with an engine rebuild, and plenty of maintenance over the years. Now, the car arguably stands as a concourse example, that would easily suit classic car collections of the highest level.

As the included heritage certificate specifies, this superb Mini Cooper S was manufactured and dispatched from the factory in July of 1968, prior to being sold by Mann Edgerton cars of Wimbledon. The vehicle was no doubt thoroughly enjoyed in the years that followed before it was decided that this little hot hatch would be in for a full nut and bolt rebuild. The rebuild was carried to the highest standard, by an ex-production line engineer, who is believed to have worked on the original production line between 1963/68.
The freshly restored Mini was then acquired by the current keeper in 2015, who has without a doubt continued to pamper the little Mini, showing exceptional care. Throughout its time with its current keeper, the vehicle was also subject to a full engine rebuild in 2017, along with a thorough hydrolastic suspension overhaul. Since its engine rebuild, the vehicle has covered very few miles and has been dry-stored, awaiting its next outing.
Comprehensive evidence of the above work and previous restoration is included with the vehicle’s paperwork, in the form of photographs, and invoices detailing parts & consumables. Also included, is the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust heritage certificate, and the V5C document ready to sign over.
The Interior
- Black vinyl interior
- Superb condition
- Previously restored/retrimmed
- Includes the correct spare wheel, and tools
Much like the superb exterior, the interior of this classic Mini is a sight to behold. Having been treated to considerable attention to detail throughout the vehicle’s restoration process, the cabin shows off a huge array of refurbished and new components, all of which present themselves brilliantly.
Both front seats show no noticeable signs of wear or blemishes, with the exception of perhaps a slight crease across the driver’s base. The rear seats follow suit, although it would seem the driver’s side rear seat shows the slightest discolouration. That being said, it appears a dash of TLC will rectify this in no time at all.
Carpeting throughout the cabin looks superb, as do both door cards, and the headlining. It would appear the passenger’s sun visor may benefit from a light detail, although the trade for what is possibly an original piece, seems more than worthwhile.
Facing forwards, you’re treated to a sleek black dash, adorned with the correct Smiths instruments, all of which are clear and in full working order. All contact points, including controls, and the steering wheel also present themselves very well, with no concerning signs of use.
The Exterior
- Superb condition, worthy of the best collections
- Fully restored, with no stone left unturned
- Snowberry white paintwork
- Original 10” steel wheels, with hub caps
- Forever iconic classic Mini styling
As the images reflect, this Mini Cooper S truly is a beautiful machine, reflecting plenty of skilled craftsmanship and care in its finish. Having been fully restored, the vehicle sports a superb coat of Snowberry white paintwork, with a sleek black roof. Although minuscule blemishes may be noticeable upon incredibly close inspection, the paintwork and finish leave nothing to be further desired and offer a condition worthy of any collection.
Accompanying the fresh paintwork, are the correct 10” steel wheels, which suit the vehicle perfectly and come complete with matching hub caps. There are of course incredibly minor blemishes to note, such as minute imperfections along the lips, but these are arguably a worthy trade for such rare, original wheels. The wheels come wrapped in a matching set of Camac tyres, with plenty of tread left to enjoy.
Chrome details, additional brightwork, and external trim pieces also present themselves beautifully, offering excellent finishes with no notable damage or signs of age. The combination of original wheels, a fully refurbished exterior, and fresh paintwork leave the Mini in truly fantastic condition, arguably worthy of a concourse title.

As previously mentioned, this Cooper S received a full nut and bolt rebuild at the hands of a skilled classic Mini specialist, who is believed to have had key experience working on the original production line. Following its rebuild, the vehicle was then acquired by the current keeper, who took to perfecting the engine, and hydrolastic system, giving them a rebuild, and refresh respectively.
The engine itself was rebuilt to a very high standard by a local specialist, who is said to have experience working for the highly regarded Downton Motor Engineering. Once the rebuilt engine was re-installed, the vehicle’s odometer was reset, and now displays a very low figure today.
