Highlights
- Comprehensive restoration
- Fully rebuilt engine

The Appeal
The Morris Minor has long been a popular classic with relative mechanical simplicity, strong parts availability and a great deal of available support making it among the most hands-on ownership prospects.
The wood-clad estate version, the Traveller, brings post war practical classic motoring in reach of the masses, though you need to be confident in the condition of the timber when choosing. Fortunately, this example has had a great deal of attention lavished on it by its current owner over a seven year period, including the installation of a new wood frame.
The restoration process also included a rebuild of the engine and the replacement of anything that was ‘broken, missing or corroded’, in the words of the seller. Although he concedes that it’s not quite in show-winning condition, it wouldn’t take a huge amount of effort to get it there but in any case it’s in a lovely usable state. So whether you’re after a Traveller that’s ready to go or fancy some further fettling to bring in the trophies, get your bid in now.

The Interior
- Blue grey vinyl seats
- New carpets
- Original toolkit
In many ways the cabin of this Travellers echoes the approach for the whole restoration project: preserve originality where possible and renew where not. Here we have the original seats which are still in good order, a patinated but original dashboard and steering wheel and fresh carpets which help to lift the appearance. Overhead, meanwhile, the headlining is clean and secure throughout.
Creature comforts are a little few and far between by today’s standards but everything is in full working order. The boot is also smartly trimmed with new carpet and under the floor is a full size spare wheel with good tread on the tyre and an original toolkit, incorporating the jack and wheel brace.
The Exterior
- Smoke grey
- New wood frame
- New tyres
With fresh wood, new bumpers and wing mirrors, the car presents very well. On closer inspection, the original badges show signs of wear but are still in reasonable condition and the paintwork has some slight marks but no deep scratches or dents.
The offside rear wing has been replaced with a fibreglass item, not that you’d notice without physical contact, and the condition of the underside is said to be excellent. The painted wheels are in great condition and have good chrome hubcaps and new tyres. Overall, it’s a lovely thing to behold.
The Mechanics
- Fully rebuilt 1098cc engine
- New big end bearings
- Spin on oil filter
- Telescopic rear shocks
- New exhaust
Under the bonnet is a clean and tidy engine bay with everything neatly assembled. The seller reports that the car drives exactly as it should with no foibles or odd noises, good brakes and a smooth gear change. Although it does benefit from a spin on oil filter and new telescopic rear shocks, the original items are included in case the next owner wants to revert them to the factory original state. In all, though, it’s ready to go, mechanically.
Summary
A nicely restored Traveller that is in lovely condition and is very usable.
