Highlights
• Sought after 8 bolt version
• Manufactured for 10 months very sought after
• Iconic city car with Italian flair
The Background
The new 500 F, replaced the “D” version, introduced in 1965 this model went on to become the version with the highest number of units manufactured, although this 8 bolt version was produced for a ten month period only making this particular car very desirable.
The new features were mainly aesthetic, the most noticeable is the reversal of the way doors opened, which were now hinged with 8 bolts per door. This was changed due to Italian law forbidding cars to be manufactured with door hinges on the rear of the door, in early 1966 the hinges became the classic ones with 4 bolts per door.
Other revisions were a larger file tank, aluminium hub caps, aluminium door handles and window winders plus headlight rims as well. Visually this car was set off by the revisions and to this day is the “500” to have.
This car was purchased six months ago from the importer, due to space not being available the current owner is looking to move the Fiat on, his collection still includes a couple of Alfa Romeo’s such is his love of Italian vehicles.
The Paperwork
The car has recent paperwork of parts that the current owner has purchased, just to finish the car off with new outer handles, window handles and sill mouldings.
The recent MOT is until October 2021. No other paperwork for the cars service history is available.

The Interior
The cars interior is in very good condition, carpets are very clean and protected with Fiat branded mats.
The seats are free of any marks, scuffs and the rear bench seat looks as good as new. New interior door and window handles have been fitted, sills are clean and the Webasto roof is free of any marks and opens and closes freely.

The 8 bolts are free of any rusting and aligned well, interior trims all fit well and gear lever and steering wheel are in good condition.
Only noticeable area to report is the passenger footwell where the carpet has come away from the right hand side (see photos), we would expect some bonding agent will put this back in to place.
The Exterior
The bright red paintwork is in very good condition, no scuffs or scratches visible and the arches on all four corners are in good order. All four tyres have good tread as does the spare which is housed in the front area where carpets are clean.
The four wheels are in good condition with the exception of the near side front wheel which has some corrosion on it. The whitewall on the tyres is in reasonable condition with one of them coming away from the off side front wheel.
The car also comes with the wooden luggage rack and white wicker hamper, perfect for those Summer day trips away.
The Mechanics
The owner states that a service has been done mid June, no paperwork to support this but the car ticks over and is currently being used as a daily driver.
New wheel bearings have been fitted and within the sale there are two new headlights and roof/gutter chromes.

The Appeal
The Italian version of the VW Beetle was smaller, cuter, fun to drive and above all still has a massive kerb appeal.
Whether you use it for the trips to your favourite coffee house or have it as a fun daily, this car will always put a smile on your face.
These 8 bolt versions are getting rarer and this version with its condition and looks is always going be a sought after classic.
