Highlights
- Rare 2 door cabriolet variant
- Comprehensive restoration in 2019
- Excellent condition
The Appeal
A rare opportunity to own a rather special Hillman Minx.
This is a rare model of the Super Minx, as it is a 2 door cabriolet and these variants were only produced for 2 years, from 1962 to 1964, as such not many of this delightful car were produced and very few remain making this a very collectible and sought-after car. Production numbers are somewhat unclear with differing reports of between 250 and 400 examples only.
Well loved and looked after, this car has been driven and enjoyed. It has accrued a good amount of miles, however it was comprehensively restored in 2019, all the while preserving the originality of the car. A very tasteful job done on a rare Super Minx cabriolet.

The History and Paperwork
- V5 Present
- MOT exempt
- Loads of documentation
The V5 is present, and included with this car is an enormous amount of history and documentation. There are numerous mot certificates, tax discs, Hillman Owners Club paperwork, and a huge amount of invoices for work carried out over the years. Clearly this car has been very well looked-after and it was treated to a thorough restoration in 2019.
The Interior
- Lovely light patina
- Original feel
- Luxurious upholstery
Hopping into the drivers seat, immediately apparent is the retro motoring feel, it is full of character and style from the delightful large black rim steering wheel with chrome horn push ring, to the very stylish gauges and dashboard details, this car has a wonderful nostalgia to it.
The luxurious green leather seats are sure to please and the colour co-ordinated carpet completes the look. It also has a righthand-side handbrake, as was often the case British cars of this period, and the original radio is fitted. The original 1963 interior paint is clean and has been recently detailed, and has a light patina to it that only adds to the original feel and character of the car.
There is some splitting on the dashboard vinyl, and there are a few stains that would benefit from steam cleaning, but these small issues would be easily rectified. For a 59 year old car, it is in superb shape. An interior that really ticks all the boxes for stylish, classic British motoring.

The Exterior
- Excellent paint finish
- Recently detailed
- Brilliant styling
Finished in Sea Crest Green. It features luxurious exterior styling with long rear fins and hooded headlights which really give away the Minx’s American-inspired flamboyant styling. The brightwork is in lovely shape as well, with only some signs of a very very light patina beginning to appear, this car wears its years proudly and is in stunning shape.
Maxxis tyres envelop white steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. The paint has been done very well and the finish is lovely. It has been thoroughly detailed and the paint really pops. There is some light blemishes and general corrosion and in panel corners, and under the front bonnet edge some paint runs are present, but overall the paint condition is superb.
The black cabriolet hood is in exceptional condition, very clean but has a cut on the passenger side just above the window. Overall some light TLC would be well appreciated by this car, but certainly nothing that should detract from the overall delightful condition that this Super Minx is presented in.

It is well undersealed and only light corrosion is present. Some small areas of welding work have been carried out to ensure this car lives a long life and is well preserved for years to come.
Summary
A delightful, rare cabriolet Super Minx. Restored in 2019 and preserved well mechanically this is a delight of a luxury classic British motor, a collectable car to be driven and loved.
