The Background

The British Rampart Boat Building Company needs little introduction to the Classic yacht enthusiast. Launched after the First World War at Bitterne Manor, Southampton, the boatyard found fame for its unique and bespoke designs.

The Rampart name was at the forefront of British boatbuilding until the early 1980's, being one of the last remaining boatyards in England still producing bespoke quality wooden boats.

The History

This beautiful 48 ft. classic wooden gentleman's motor yacht was commissioned by a wealthy London businessman and completed in 1961 by Rampart boat builders in Southampton. Sea Dawn has been lovingly cared for to maintain the style and quality of the beautiful craft you see today.
Sea Dawn is a very comfortable yacht, with ample accommodation to cruise canals and rivers in style, or live aboard if required.
Sea Dawn is currently moored in Spain, in the vibrant coastal town of Cambrils, approximately 20 kms from the ancient town of Tarragona. Cambrils has many superb restaurants and bars and fabulous long sandy beach and is easily accessible from Barcelona. Ryan Air fly direct from the UK and Ireland to Reus.

The Paperwork

The vessel is currently registered with the United Kingdom Certificate of Registry. After sale, the vessel will, of course, need to be re-registered by her new owner wherever they choose.
The latest survey/status report was carried out in June 2021 by Consultoría Náutica LFC in Barcelona. The survey confirms that Sea Dawn is in excellent condition and bidders can be confident that the vessel has been very well maintained.
The vendor has also advised interested parties, that the mooring fee in Cambrils Marina is currently €556+ VAT per month. The marina also offers low and high season monthly rates. Of course, less expensive marinas are available, such as Valencia with is around €300 per month, plus VAT. The Cambrils Marina Manager is happy for Sea Dawn to remain moored there, should the new owner so wish.

The Interior

Sea Dawn is an 7-8 berth vessel. The good size saloon has ample seating and a large fold down dining table, leading on to the well appointed galley and through to the wheelhouse and forward accommodation area.

The galley is equipped with sink and drainer, plenty of storage cupboards, fridge/freezer, and gas oven with hob above. There is a good size worktop for the preparation of food. The vessel also benefits from a pressurised hot and cold water system, with a capacity of 100 litres, further adding to the comfort of those onboard Sea Dawn.

The Exterior

Sea Dawn has been well maintained throughout her ownership, which is evident in the image gallery. The mahogany hull is fastened to oak frames with Iroko decking.  Discrete electric lighting on the deck adds a romantic charm to evening cocktails.

The vessel offers a wheelhouse featuring upholstered side bench seating, and a flybridge.  As well as life jackets, there is an inflatable dinghy/tender with a 2.5hp outboard Suzuki motor.

The Mechanics

Sea Dawn is powered by established Twin Perkins P6 diesel motors, each producing 75hp, enabling the vessel to cruise at speeds of 8 - 11 knts with a 900 litre fuel tank.

The recent Status Report noted there were no abnormal engine sounds or excessive smoke and they performed as required. No strange vibrations or fumes were evident and the engine temperatures remained at acceptable levels.

The Appeal

No expense has been spared on this beautiful vessel and is an opportunity not to be missed by any classic enthusiast. Sea Dawn will take you on a relaxing Mediterranean cruise, or maybe take a leisurely trip along the French canals back to the UK to sail her down the Thames, a river she knows well.

Wherever your destination, with Sea Dawn you can cruise there in the grandest of style and comfort!
