The Background
Ferruccio Lamborghini started to produce tractors in 1946, just after World War II.
At the time it was Fiat who dominated the tractor market, but Ferruccio decided he wanted to produce a powerful tractor which was also economical. He started off by buying some surplus war equipment and set to work making improvements to the engine and fuel system.
This, with a simple frame, produced the Carioca tractor which was released to the public in 1948. With a degree of success and with his father’s help to fund the new project, production was expanded and the L33 model was produced, with a gas powered 3,500 cc Morris 6-cylinder engine.

With tractors continuing to grow, Ferruccio was never one to relax and designed a new crawler tractor which became the base model for the one we have here today.
The new crawler was launched in 1955, and became a huge success using tracks over tyres. This was powered by a new diesel engine, fully developed and built by Lamborghini.

The History
The Lamborghini 5CTL was purchased by the seller’s father from a gentleman in Modena, Italy. He was a great fan of vintage tractors and wanted a project to work on.
Unfortunately any documents related to the tractor were lost by the previous keeper, and so the seller has stated it was produced somewhere between 1961 - 1969.
The majority of the work was carried out by the seller's father, the paintwork was carried out by his two grandchildren who work in a body shop for a profession.
The whole restoration project was finished in early 2021.

The Paperwork
As mentioned, any paperwork was lost by a previous keeper.
The vehicle would be ideally suited to a collector or for private use.
The Interior
The seat of the Lamborghini has been re-upholstered with new foam to the base, back and sides.
The gauges are working as they should, with the hour meter showing 1316 hours, and the control leavers have new grips fitted to them. The inside has been repainted in the original colour, which is all in excellent condition.

The Exterior
The body of the 5CTL has been fully stripped back and sandblasted to remove all of the old paint and any surface corrosion.
It has then been repainted in the original colour scheme, RAL 2008 and RAL 5007, with the paintwork completed by the two grandsons. New replica decals have been applied to the bonnet, and there is also a new Lamborghini badge sitting pride of place.

Looking around the tractor, everything has been repainted from the chassis upwards, with a high attention to detail, creating a showpiece machine. The storage boxes to either side of the seat are finished in orange to match the bonnet and are in excellent condition.
Being the more sought after 5CTL model, it is 19cm wider than the previous 5C version.

The lights are all in excellent condition and have either been restored to retain the originality or replaced for new where it was necessary. The tracks have been replaced and are therefore in excellent condition.
The Mechanics
With 39 bhp and a 2193 cc displacement engine, the 5CTL was the most powerful tractor produced by Lamborghini at the time.
The 3 cylinder engine in the Lamborghini is believed to be the original, which has been refurbished with new gaskets, seals, starter motor, diesel pipes replaced, exhaust and a cooling fan bearing.
This was then finished off with fresh oil and gearbox oil. Ensuring everything is safe and working as it should, the wiring has also been replaced.
