THE APPEAL
The elegant and enduring Jaguar Mk II saloon is hard to beat when it comes to pure style, ride comfort and effortless performance, and still remains one of the most desirable and sought-after British classics of all time.
Interestingly, this 1961 Pearl Grey beauty comes with it’s original order form which shows us that it was purchased from Coombs & Sons (Guildford) at a cost of £1,777 pounds, 5 shillings and 1 pence.
Famously, John Coombs exploited the Mk II’s sporting prowess with his race team entering touring car events during the 1960’s. Driven by professional racers such as Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Stirling Moss, to name a few, they enjoyed considerable success, the cars often being driven to and from the races - fantastic!.
Purchased in 1988, the current owner has driven this honest-looking example sparingly, spending most of it’s time tucked-up in his garage. The sleek body and sumptuous interior are very original in appearance and essential maintenance has been attended to up to 2018. With a little recommissioning, this Jaguar should be ready to take to the road.

Last fired-up in July 2022, this Jaguar should start and run well, but due to the lack of recent use, it will be advisable to inspect the mechanicals thoroughly, with the brakes needing attention before driving it.
SUMMARY
With a little continued maintenance this iconic and highly original Jaguar MkII could be driven regularly, or given how cosmetically and mechanically complete it is, would make an ideal candidate for a sympathetic or full restoration.
It’s a Jaguar! - Irresistible looks and legendary performance are an instant draw - need we say more.
