THE APPEAL
Introduced as the “the sportsman’s scooter”, the TV175 (series II) was manufactured from 1959 to 1961 and is very much a desirable scooter amongst enthusiastic devotees of the Italian brand.
Judging by the frame number, this beautiful example is a second generation TV series II and should therefore have a stronger factory frame and incorporates the later headset and headlight, a dual seat, and redesigned front brake drum and fork links. The oval horn grille is also a give-away.
The low-slung horizontal (second generation) Innocenti engine also had improved reliability and helped to propel sales of the scooter. Some 41,787 series II scooter’s were produced.
The classic flowing contours of the TV175 are a thing of beauty. Restored to a good standard, at least twelve years ago, the period light blue colour really suits it and the original factory details such as the wonderful Veglia speedometer and stylish badges are thankfully retained.
