THE APPEAL

The final BSA model and ultimate road-going 500, the DBD 34 Clubman appeared in 1956 and dominated the Clubman TT that year and numerous other competitions - nothing else on the street, track or dirt could touch it.
Arguably the most desirable ‘Goldie’, this genuine classic speed machine is cosmetically stunning and has had a considerable amount of money spent on mechanical work carried out by well known BSA experts.
A performance Café racer or collection showpiece, this distinctive, and indeed award-winning bike, is definitely not to be missed.

According to a confirmation letter from the BSA Owners Club in 1991, this BSA was consigned from the factory to Michael’s Garage, Howden, Yorkshire, on the 12th February 1959 and the original registration number issued from East Riding.
The first owner purchased it on the 25th March 1959 and obviously loved it, having kept it until, we believe, 2011. During his ownership he entrusted Gold star specialist John Gleed to overhaul the mechanicals in 1997 at a cost of £4,382 (see photos).
The second owner engaged John Edwards to supply and fit a long list of replacement items in 2013 including a starter kit and clutch, for example. The gearbox was also overhauled.
From 2016 to 2017 it appears that further new parts were supplied by John Edwards and the frame and ancillaries were powder coated. At the same time, Gold Star expert, Phil Pearson Engineering, stripped and rebuilt the engine at a cost of £2,938 (see photo of invoice).
