  • Vintage Motor Scooter Club award winner

The Appeal

This really is an outstanding example of an unmolested or restored 1958 LD150, and they certainly don’t come onto market like this very often.
Known as “Malcolm” after its original owner and custodian for 58 years, this scooter has only had 2 other keepers since purchase, one being Malcolm’s daughter, the other a scooterist through and through.
It’s as ridden and accessorised in the late ‘50s/ early ‘60s when it was parked up in the owners’ dry garage, where it stood for 58 years until being resurrected in 2015.
Just take a look at those saddlebags, leg shields, luggage racks, badges, the list goes on & on, this is the sort of stuff you just can’t find in original condition these days.
It has a fabulous history including photos from its early days & details of its award-winning recent history, which includes a riding trip around Northern Italy in 2022.
This Lambretta just oozes patina and if you’re lucky, you could be the next custodian to add to its colourful life.

Exterior

The photographs play a key role in describing this Lambretta , but suffice to say that it’s not been restored ,  it’s been carefully conserved .
It’s so original, even down to the plastic Innocenti handlebar grips & Veglia speedometer, which incidentally we have no reason to doubt the indicated 19,256 miles.
It’s first owner accessorised utilising a Ulma double edged leg shield trim, Fiam footboard strips, chromed badge bar and of course various badges.
Luggage was taken care of with Lycette panniers and leg shield bag. Indicators were added in period by the first owner, Malcolm.
Photos in the history file show the bike to now be just as it was back in the late ‘50s & early ‘60s before being carefully stored. To include Malcolm’s helmet, goggles & leather gauntlets.

Mechanics

With a little choke, she, or that really should be he, started second kick which should tell you most of what you’d like to know.
We’re told by the vendor that it runs very well, stops very well and rides as it should, in fact far better than it should, in June this year, it participated in the 35th Milano Taranto rally around Northern Italy and certainly put a smile on the current owner’s face, and a good suntan we believe.

Summary

A piece of scooter history, straight from the late 1950s.

Buy it and ride it, that’s what the original owner would have wanted and enjoy it as much as he did.
