The Background
Originally simply called the Bentley S, the S1 was a luxury car built by Bentley Motors between 1955 -1958. Twinned with the Rolls-Royce Silver cloud, this classy motor was powered by the company's 4.9L smooth six-cylinder unit and could reach speeds of up to 100mph, not bad for two tonnes of steel and veneer. Outselling its Rolls counterpart, even though both vehicles were nearly identical, with a total of 3,538 being produced.
The History
First registered in December of 1958 to F C Bagnall, director of British Nylon Spinners, and has only had 4 owners in it’s 64 years of existence. Spending 13 years with the first keeper, 7 years with the second, 4 with the third before being used as a wedding car for 34 years until 2016 where it found itself in a small sleepy village in Wiltshire.
The car has clocked over 100,000 miles, with the mileometer ‘restarting’ around 2010 time. The majority of these miles seem to have been carried out during its time as a wedding car, with piles of documentation confirming works carried out from 1982 - 2016. The current owner has used sparingly, with only a couple thousand miles being driven in their 6 years of ownership.

The Paperwork
Included with the car is a substantial amount of paperwork. MOT history, which helps confirm the mileage/odometer restart, countless invoices for mechanical and body repairs, plus part invoices and tyre bills. This car was relied upon for over 30 years to travel across the United Kingdom and Europe for the most important, special day for hundreds of couples.
Reliability and appearance were of the utmost importance and as such no compromises were made with its maintenance. Bills accounting to nearly £57,000 over the course of its life are present, which speaks volumes. In addition, vehicle handbook, spares list and workshop manual will be included.

The chrome work is bright and gleams in the sun, with brand new front and rear bumpers fitted less than a year ago.
The vendor has advised he will be keeping the AA badge bar as it has sentimental value.
Under the bonnet, things are just as neat, it's difficult to accept this car is nearly 65 years old, and while there’s been some refurbishment over the years to help keep it looking youthful it is just as delightfully, impactful, as the day it first graced the roads back in the late 50’s.

The Mechanics
The car started on the button, and performed with a gentle, soft grace. Manoeuvred slightly during the shoot, there was no sign of any cause for concerns.
The seller has made us aware of a couple points however, the battery was due for replacement but the seller has fitted a new one since our visit, the radio isn't working plus the door light switches aren’t working.
