The Appeal
The great thing about motorcycle customisation is that you can make as many or as few modifications as you wish. Some bikes are unashamedly bespoke with striking paintwork and lashings of chrome, whereas others make a more subtle impression, with beautifully executed smaller modifications, focusing on the finer details.
This 1957 Matchless falls into the latter category and to the uninitiated, it may appear to all intents and purposes to be a totally standard ‘50s motorcycle. Those in the know will no doubt have spotted the modern solo seat and stainless steel adornments. Keen Matchless enthusiasts will note that where a 350cc single once thumped away, the barrel and piston from the Matchless G80 now sits, enlarging this bike’s capacity to 500cc.
