The Appeal

Is there anything more quintessentially British than the sight of a gleaming Triumph Renown winding its way through country lanes?
Currently used as a wedding car, this model is finished in cream with a deep red interior. Tens of thousands were spent on a mechanical restoration and the current owner says he has kept it in an inside unit for the entire time he has owned the car.

The History & Paperwork

  • First registered in 1950
  • Used as a wedding car for many years
  • The current seller is downsizing his collection and is now looking for the right owner that will continue to appreciate this iconic British classic.

The Interior

  • Retrimmed interior in deep red
  • Lovely original patina
  • Carpets and headlining in good condition
Hundreds of nervous brides have been transported to churches, registry offices and everywhere besides in this Triumph. However, the interior of this 72-year-old car has fared well for its age.
The seller says the carpets are in good condition and the headlining is clean and secure. A polished wooden dashboard houses all the dials and switches, which give the interior its authentic feel. There are a few scratches to the centre console but the seller tells us all the features work as they should.
There’s a bit of wear around the steering wheel and some patina on the metalwork on the sun visor but the seats and upholstered door panels are in good condition, having been retrimmed in the current owner’s stewardship.

The Exterior

  • Generally good paintwork
  • Wheels and tyres in good condition
  • Triumph globe badge still present
For a car that rolled out of the Standard Motor Company factory while King George IV was still on the throne, it’s still looking very tidy. Appearing in many family photo albums, this car has taken centre stage on the biggest day of people’s lives.
As you’d expect, there are a few age-related marks and scuffs around the exterior but the seller reports the majority of the paintwork is in good condition. Similarly, he reports the brightwork is generally in a good state.
The wheels and tyres are in good condition and the underside is free from corrosion, according to the vendor. The boot is also in good condition.

The Mechanics

  • Comprehensive mechanical restoration
  • Starts and drives well
  • Gears and brakes work as they should
As the main use of this Triumph was as a wedding car, the previous owner obviously put a lot of time and effort into ensuring it would run smoothly - getting many brides to the church on time.
The vendor says this car has been well looked after and that he has spent thousands mechanically restoring it.
Due to the car’s age, the seller tells us it will always need some “tinkering” to keep it in top condition but is an enjoyable classic to drive and enjoy.

Summary

Whether you’re expanding your own hire car business or want to own a piece of history that will turn heads wherever you go, this car will definitely be an enjoyable runaround - whether you’re heading to the church or the supermarket!
