1958 BSA Gold Star 350

HIGHLIGHTS

  •  Restored to show condition
  •  Original frame and engine numbers
  •  Imported to the U.K. in 2008
  •  Healthy 350 cc engine

THE APPEAL

The legendary hand-built BSA Gold Star is arguably the first road-going superbike of the post-war era and led the way in competition guise at circuit races, scramble tracks and trials, and of course where it famously achieved it’s Gold Star recognition and subsequent name in 1937 - Brooklands.
This fine example really looks the business with gleaming paintwork, shiny chrome and polished alloy. Believed to have been imported from Norway or Sweden in 2008, it appears that the first U.K. owner, from Perthshire, Scotland, completely restored this stunning motorcycle.
With just 302 miles on the clock, the vendor assures us that this competent machine is ready to take to the road, and in this condition, should slot nicely into any enthusiasts collection or stand out beautifully at any bike show.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  •  First registered on the 1st January 1958
  •  Registration in the U.K. on the 1st January 2009
  •  V5 (in previous owner’s name)
  •  BSA Dating Service confirmation
  •  No early history or import documents
  •  Clearly kept dry stored
  •  Parts and engine work invoices
  •  The last exempt ‘Pass’ MOT was carried out in August 2010 at 211 miles
  •  Exempt tax is valid until the 1st April 2023
Judging by the accompanying invoices, we can see that a wide range of mechanical components were purchased from specialist suppliers during 2009 and 2010, including numerous small items such as gaiters, a new twist grip and a throttle slide, for example (see photos).
Also, new valve guides and associated engine work was carried out by SAS Precision Engineering, Perthshire.
The second U.K. owner, enthusiast and collector, purchased this iconic BSA on the 31st March 2021 but has decided to sell most of his collection to the vendor this year.
