L'attrait

Après le krach de Wall Street en 1929 et la "Grande Dépression" qui s'en est suivie, les constructeurs ont été contraints de développer des véhicules plus abordables s'ils voulaient survivre à la tempête. La Standard Motor Company britannique s'est bien comportée au début des années 30 avec ses nouveaux modèles Nine et Ten, ce qui lui a permis d'injecter les fonds nécessaires au développement de la Standard "Flying", plus innovante, qui est arrivée sur le marché en 1936.
Dotée d'une toute nouvelle carrosserie aérodynamique, cette Standard Flying Twelve a fait sensation en 1936 et reste à ce jour une belle voiture qui fonctionne toujours comme ses constructeurs l'avaient prévu il y a 88 ans. Ces voitures d'avant-guerre sont parmi les plus utilisables et, comme tous les véhicules de cet âge bénéficient d'un contrôle technique et d'une exonération de la taxe de circulation, elles sont simples et peu coûteuses à faire rouler.
